Area Info
El Campello

Just a 10 mins drive away is the beach town of El Campello which dates back to the Middle Ages. It has a lively fishing harbour and beautiful white sandy beaches. There are lots of shops, supermarkets, banks, bars and restaurants. Take a trip to the archeological site of La Illeta dels Banyets and the famous Torre Vigía De La Illeta (tower), which is one of the most important historical sites in the Costa Blanca.

Alicante is only a 15 mins drive away and is steeped in history. Visit the Castle of Santa Barbara which dates back to the 9th century or maybe enjoy shopping in the centre of Alicante and relax afterwards at one of its many bars and restaurants. Don’t forget to pack your swimming costumes so you can enjoy the beautiful white sandy beaches. From Alicante you can take a trip to the Isla de Tabarca which was once inhabited by pirates! There are museums, churches, theatres and of course the Casino which is based at the harbour. Something for everyone!

For the golfers there are several 18 hole golf courses nearby, the closest being Bonalba Golf which is only 3 mins drive away.

Bonalba Golf Club and Spa
Stunning views are part of the package with this 18-hole golf course which is situated just inland from the beautiful sands of El Campello beach. The course can be enjoyed all year round. The complicated design (giving a par of 72) challenges the golfer with strategically placed lakes and undulating greens.

Also at the golf course there is a water park which has a large outdoor pool area, chirringuito, and sun loungers – fun for all the family! There is also an indoor pool for year round swimming. As well as the golf there is Bonalba Spa where you can pamper yourself with everything from a workout in the gymnasium; a relaxing sauna or steam, or spoil yourself with a beauty treatment. Daily entrance fees apply. There are many places to eat whether it be at the Bonalba Hotel, the Golf Clubhouse or at one of the various restaurants on site.

Alicante Golf Club
On the outskirts of Alicante city close to the 7km San Juan beach is a modern 18-hole golf course designed by Seve Ballesteros and opened in 1998. Incorporating lakes and artificial rivers into the design has increased the difficulty rating of the course which has a par of 72, with six par 3's, six par 4's and six par 5's. It is a gentle course to walk around and its flatness increases the visibility; the greens on all the holes can be easily seen.
Real de Faula Golf Club – Benidorm
Designed by Jack Nicklaus these two 18-hole golf courses are suitable for all levels of player. Located in a pine filled valley with views to the sea and mountains it covers more than 80 hectares and is 6,612 metres in length.
A visit to Villajoyosa (15 mins drive) is a must too. Not only does it have the traditional white sandy beaches with bars, shops and restaurants but you can visit the famous “Valor” chocolate factory, where you can take a free tour of the factory and afterwards taste the chocolates!

Benidorm has 6km of beautiful white sandy beaches, numerous bars, restaurants and clubs. There are many things to do in Benidorm and here are just a few things of interest:

Terra Mitica theme park
This theme park is for both adults and children and is well worth a visit. It is divided into 5 themed areas (Egypt, Greece, Rome, Iberia and Mediterranean Islands) and has lots of rides (fast and slow), an area for smaller children with rides plus lots of live shows throughout the day and night.

Terra Natura Animal Park and Water Park
Come see the baby rhino that has just been born (March 2012). It is the first rhino to be born in captivity in Spain. Within each sector there are a selection of interesting shows and rides. You can take a train ride around the park and if you survive how about going swimming with baby sharks! For many parents the water park is a highlight of the day as you can settle down on a sun bed while the children go in the huge swimming pool which has water slides and a children's play area.

Aqualandia and Mundomar Parks

Aqualandia is reputedly Europe's largest salt water park. There are a great range of attractions within the park such as the huge Atlantic wave pool, the springboards of Laguna, the beach and caves of Niagara and Adventure land which has been developed specially for young children.

There are plenty of high rides with scary names such as Kamikaze and Black Hole as well as Big Bang which is Europe's highest chute ride.

Just next door is the more tranquil Mundomar Sealife Park which has dolphins, penguins and sea lions as well as tropical birds.

The dolphin show is the highlight of the day which takes place at 1.30pm and 4.30pm. There is a children's park with plenty slides and other amusements and a selection of cafés.

Benidorm Palace
This offers a great night out with a first class international cabaret show and dinner included. I would suggest this is more for adults than children. It is excellent value and you'll be entertained by top variety acts from around the world as well as treated to a stunning display of flamenco dancing.

Castillo del Conde de Alfaz.
This is unusual but great entertainment with "medieval" knights giving a fantastic display of expert horsemanship and jousting. Tickets include a medieval supper (which means you eat with your fingers!) There's a disco afterwards until the small hours.

The whole of the Costa Blanca is steeped in history and just some of the other places you should try to visit are Calpe, Guadalest, Fonts de Algar, Elche to name but a few (please see the booklet in the villa for leaflets and information).
