The lake, not only ideal for aquatic sports, but its great for fishing too!. Many bass and perch have been caught right off the dock near the home. Lake Austin is one of the sixth Highland Lakes on the Colorado River in central Texas. The lake starts at the Mansfield Dam and ends at the Tom Miller Dam in the city of Austin. The Bridge on Hwy 360 which goes over Lake Austin is a good point for launching your boat. The Spot-only five minutes away- is also a popular gathering point on the lake especially, for people who love to fish. Lake Austin contains an excellent population of large mouth bass, some large enough to be considered prize-winning! Many bass weighing 8-10 pounds are caught each year. The reservoir also has some good quality bluegill, redbreast, and redear fishing, and has low-density populations of flat head and blue catfish. Fishing during the summer months is best done at night due to heavy recreational boating activity in the daytime.
