The River House features a new kitchen with maple cabinets. The kitchen is big and bright and opens directly to the great room and dining area. If you’re the one cooking dinner you won't feel left out from the rest of the fun. It is fully applianced; including a microwave and dishwasher. All the dishes and service you will require are here, right down to a crock-pot and spices. There is a full bath, with tub and shower, a washer & dryer and plenty of linen for a family.
The master bedroom looks out over the stream and has a paddle fan for warm summer nights. A large dresser, rocking chair and queen size bed with night table will make you feel right at home.
The guestroom on the other side of the hall has an antique double bed, nightstand and chest of drawers.
Completing the sleeping area is a laddered loft that kids will delight in. It's like their own little tree house. There are three twin mattresses on the floor and a secret door that opens up to the great room below so they can view the TV or be a part of the action down below. We suggest bringing sleeping bags as we do not provide bedding for the loft.
Enjoy the use of the Howard Pond Town Beach, a short distance up the road, or a dip in our clear mountain brook. X-Country ski or snowmobile right from your door all the way to Canada. Deep cold Howard Pond, just up the road, is renowned for its great trout fishing and access is easy for a canoe or small boat. There are small trout in the stream and some excellent fishing in the Androscoggin River running along nearby Rt. 2.
The Androscoggin is quickly becoming known as a canoer's paradise for those looking to experience nature. There is easy access and you will not surrounded by other paddlers. Go for a couple hours or pack a lunch and plan an excursion for the whole day. Canoes can be rented nearby or a guided trip may be arranged.
Picturesque views and the soothing babble of cascading waterfalls will be your treat as you relax on the deck. A sliding door from the living area is your access to this tranquil spot. A gas barbeque grill is provided for your afternoon or evening meal. The deck makes a great place to relax and do some reading while the kids play in the brook.

Nice for a small family
August 8, 2013
My family just stayed at the river house. I must say when I first pulled up I was a little nervous do to the lack of curb appeal. Some simple clean-up would be a great improvement. The inside of the home is the same as the photos. The only complaint I have is the smell of musty damp carpets. I have terrible allergies and this only made them worse. The carpet in the loft area smelled the worst. My son could not sleep up there due to his allergies .There is very little natural light due to the tree coverage but that was okay we spent most of the day at a family members home on the pond. The washer is a HE front loader however, the doors on these machines need to stay open, It was shut and to my surprise the amount of black mold inside the machine was over the top. I purchased bleach and ran the clean cycles. It was then able to be used. The only other thing was where to put your daily garbage,. There was no instructions on where to place it so we left them outside and I worried I was going to wake up to a mess from animals. Luckily this was not the case. Lastly, the vacuum cleaner was horrible and smelled awful when it was being used. A new one is a must. WIth a few minor tweeks this place could be 5 stars easily.

Howard Stream Rental
July 25, 2011
Very nice and clean Everything is as advertised The driveway/parking area is very confined, full size vehicles will have some maneuvering issues Also, if you plan to use the toaster, bring your own. The old 2 slicer doesn't get the job done. After 2 slices it is overheated and useless.
Our family stayed this fabulous River house for the summer vacation. This house is so private and perfect for family reunion. We played Golf, hiking, swimming, and barbecuing every night.
The sound of stream was leading us to another step of pleasure and calmness. It is hard to describe the peaceful environment. Thank you
What a wonderful vacation spot! We loved the house, the stream in the backyard and the campfire! Fishing was not as expected but the beauty of the surroundings made up for it! We had a great time visiting Grafton Notch Park, visiting the area waterfalls, and awesome hiking trailsup the mountains. We got a workout on table rock loopthat we'll never forget. The view from the top made it all wowhile. We hope to visit again next year... This is an incredible house and vacation spot. God's beauty is touching, much loved and appreciated. Thanks very much Scott and Carol.... We'll be back!
