Reviews for this vacation home rental in Boothbay Harbor, Maine
July 22, 2015
Gorgeous modern house on Damariscotta. Comfortable. Airy. Quiet. We loved the kitchen/cooking set up, the amazing windows onto the water. Easy access to Damariscotta and Booth Bay from River road. Great bedrooms and bathrooms. Great for socializing and for relaxing. Good air flow, ceiling fans in main rooms. Beautiful decks and porches, both screened and open. No other homes in view. Great chairs on rock overlooking water. Our experience was 100% positive.
Perfect Maine getaway home

Centrally located, beautiful modern house. Everything as advertised. The owners were very pleasant and good to work with. Highly recommend.
June 29, 2015
I read the reviews beforehand and had high expectations. The house exceeded those. It is situated in a camp- like setting with dense woods, water views , unpaved driveway, etc. The contemporary house is equipped with high-end appliances, walls of windows, and THEE most efficient wood stove I've encountered. 3 small logs took the chill off one evening. It feels like Frank Lloyd Wright meets IKEA. The owners have taken care of all those small details by stocking the house with paper towels, band aids, shampoo, nail clippers, thermometer, you name it. They recommended a place to rent kayaks and on a moments notice I had two kayaks delivered. My 2 teenagers spent hours on the river kayaking with seals frolicking nearby while my husband and I enjoyed some wine on the Adirondack chairs taking pictures of them. One evening was spent playing scatagories ( supplied by the owners) after we cooked lobsters from the neighboring vendor. Nary an iPod, iPad, tv or any device was in sight or in use! When I needed to send pics to family, WiFi was readily available. A memorable house, a memorable vacation!

Would go back in a heartbeat!
May 26, 2015
This house was spectacular. It sits right on the Damriscotta River and you can sit and watch the tide go in and out. We saw seals, eagles, turkeys, and even a bristle worm. The house itself is one of the nicest places I have ever stayed. Very modern, heated cement floors, screened porch, dream kitchen that is fully stocked with anything you would need, walls of windows everywhere and I mean everywhere!! No escaping the sunrise in this house, it is breathtaking. It is centrally located between Boothbay Harbor (lots of restaurants and bars), Wiscasset, and Damariscotta, where you will find Reny's and Reny's underground (every expensive souvenir can be found here for less). It is a short ride to Pemaquid lighthouse from the house. A must see. The owners are fabulous. We texted and emailed and got an answer immediately and help with anything we needed. I couldn't be happier with my decision to stay here. My pictures from the chairs by the river are gorgeous. I highly recommend this place for your next vacation. I am already planning a girl's get-away and this will be my place.

The Best Rental Cottage!
February 19, 2015
It has taken me way too long to write this review but let me tell you that the cottage is a fantastic rental! Love the windows and almost everything about it. Great kitchen, cottage fully stocked with linens, paper products, soap, etc. Owner is so helpful even though he is not in town. We had problems with the wireless for the internet and Mike spent lots of time getting immediate service from the cable/satellite (can't remember which it is) company. Wish I could get such immediate service from our cable co.! The cottage is stocked with a great music collection, puzzles, games, books, etc. Down the road is a great seafood market where we went daily for lobsters, clams, fish...fresh, fresh, fresh. There is a great farmers market in Boothbay on Thursdays. We ate out once a day and cooked the rest of the time. Super, super, super place to stay. My only problem is that the walk to the water is a bit dicey for me with my back problems. If I could pick up the cottage and put it down on the water's edge, I'd be begging to buy it from Mike! Hope to stay again!
Fantastic in every way

This modernist home was our dream come true--sophisticated design amidst the rural splendor of coastal Maine. The kitchen is a spectacular place to cook, the open plan made for wonderful family & friends' time, the large and spacious bedrooms are serene retreats. We were impressed with the hIgh end fixtures in the bathrooms, appliances in the kitchen, and radiant floors and found the simple decor made this spacious house feel both cozy and convenient. Even in bad weather (it rained on us), the water views and large banks of windows meant we felt like we were having the outdoor experience we craved even while we sat happily playing games, cooking, eating, and relaxing together. This is the perfect midcoast Maine retreat and, for sure, we will be back again soon--we've already made our next reservation!

Stunning and Beautiful Stay
October 25, 2014
We stayed at this property in mid-October. What an incredible time to visit! The foliage was breathtaking, and staying in this house just made everything better. First of all, it has a water view from the expansive windows which makes you feel like you're staying in an elegant and upscale tree house (in the best positive sense!!!). We went down to the water every evening with a glass of wine to watch the sunset over the water. It was amazing. The house itself is beautifully constructed and modern. One could imagine this house somewhere in the mountains of Sweden. It has clean lines and beautiful wooden beams across the high ceilings. The bedrooms are quite large and well appointed, with the addition of radiant heat which is whisper quiet. We didn't use the wood stove, but I imagine it would be quite cozy on a chilly evening. We booked this house primarily because of the location and the kitchen. I'm a food writer and my husband and I love to cook. The kitchen was fantastic (although we did bring our own sous vide machine and slow cooker, which we wouldn't expect any house to have in stock!), particularly as it has an open living plan and you can look out the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the water as you cook. A dream! We loved the long driveway through the forest to the house and the private, quiet location. This is an excellent place to unwind and relax in nature. The nearby town of Damariscotta was such a pleasure to find. It has a natural foods co-op, the quality of which you would expect to find in a large city, plus some great restaurants. They had a pumpkin festival which we missed, but we did catch the huge carved pumpkins up and down the street. Talk about the quintessential New England autumn experience. It doesn't get any better than this. We would recommend this house to any of our friends, and we're planning on coming back next year. This area of Maine is so beautiful. We made short trips to Camden, Owl's Nest, Boothbay Harbor, Bath and more, all of which are pretty close.

Highly recommended place to stay- Boothbay Harbor
September 16, 2014
A wonderful place for a Maine Vacation. The house is quiet, in the woods, with river frontage to watch the sunrise, the tides, diving ospreys and cormorants. Beautiful forest views from two porches. Top of the line appliances. I can’t say enough good things about the place. We spent 2 weeks and hated to leave. About equi-distant between Boothbay harbor for touristy entertainment, and Damariscotta for additional good restaurants and groceries.

Perfect vacation house for couples and families
September 10, 2014
I could live in this house! It's contemporary industrial design with an open floor plan is wonderful. High ceilings both upstairs and down, large bedrooms (one with home office); great bathrooms with fabulous water pressure; polished concrete floors with radiant heat (we did not need heat) ;a fully-furnished high-tech Ikea kitchen; decks and a screened porch off the master---all about 75 feet from the Damariscotta River. We had kayaks delivered; my husband and I saw an eagle soar from a treetop directly above our heads while kayaking and my granddaughter and I laughed at a curious Harbor Seal when we were out. And just as we were told---a Harbor seal looks like a dog swimming in the water. The house sits a distance off the main road (which is a quiet dirt road that provides a relaxing walk) and is about a 20-minute drive to Boothbay Harbor, a town filled with good restaurants, ice cream shops, and the sailing site of many cruises. We did a harbor cruise here and also a Hardy Boat cruise from a different port to Seal Island---lots and lots of seals. Splurged one night and had dinner in the main dining room of the Spruce Point Inn in Boothbay---excellent and it was fun to dress up. But back to the house---satellite TV is provided as well as lots of CDs, board games, books, magazines. We would rent this house again in a heartbeat. The owners are immediately responsive to email questions. And speaking of email, the house has Wi-Fi.

July 10, 2014
This property provided everything it promised. It was well appointed and located in a private wooded area with water access.
April 11, 2014
This house was designed perfectly. Great open floor plan and great kitchen. Huge windows everywhere that let you enjoy the beautiful scenery outside while eating or cooking a meal inside. It's a must see in person. Also it has two levels with decks that allow you to sit and relax while viewing the water. Great to wake up in the morning and look out the windows and plan your day. The kitchen is well equipped with all sizes of pots and pans. Makes it feel like home. Also there is a grill outside which we used to cook lobsters. Quick drive to boothbay. Also there is a great trail close to the property for the adventurous type. We came here for our anniversary and we were surprised how big it was. It could definitely sleep 8-10 people if you wanted to. We want to come back with friends. Also the owners were very helpful and easy going. Great recommendations from them that came in handy. Thanks again Mike and Cindy. Your house is wonderful. - Pete.

July 24, 2013
We found Mike and Cindy's home by accident during an online search and were immediately attracted by the modern architecture (I grew up in a similar house). We always look for a couple of factors when searching Maine vacation houses (gourmet kitchen, easy water access, modern/non-cluttered design) and this house had it all. The location is ideal: on the Boothbay peninsula, close to everything but away from the heavy tourist traffic, and with very easy access to the water if you have kayaks. We had coffee sitting at the water edge with bald eagles flying over us, seals swimming in front of us, and plenty of other wildlife entertainment. The purist design and decoration of the house added to the serenity I think. Everything you need is there, and the kitchen was wonderfully practical and well stocked. One of the top oyster farms of the East Coast is right next door (literally walking distance) and they also have the only honor system lobster/oyster shop in Maine (you weigh them yourself and leave the cash). We had an amazing couple of days and hope we can come back next year. Thank you!
Great home...great location
July 1, 2013
The house was totally awesome and in a great location. Edgecomb was an hour from Camden and an hour from Freeport...so we went to both! The house was lovely and it felt like we were staying in a tree house. The owners could not be nicer and the information was so helpful. We definitely recommend dinner at the Damascotta(?) River Grill, a scooter ride (you can rent one in Boothbay), go kayaking and take a trip to the Pemaguid lighthouse. We were lucky enough to be able to go up inside. We went out on the Lazy Jack Scooner in Camden...great folks to sail with. OH...go see the edgecomb pottery place which is on route 27...we bought a bowl b/c it was just so beautiful! Thanks for a great time and opening up your home! Joanne and Bret

Peacefulness Among the Trees!
September 2, 2012
This is an ideal place if you want a vacation of pure rest and relaxation in a beautiful setting. The house is perfectly designed to enjoy all of Maine’s beauty. It is surrounded by trees so the only real sounds you hear are the birds, wind and rain in the trees, or boats passing on the river. We sat on the river watching lobster boats, birds and even an otter. At low tide, we went clamming. It’s also centrally located with only a short drive to visit sites such as Boothbay Harbor or the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse. The house has all the essentials, plus those few little extras that make things nice (excellent WiFi, great kitchen). HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
August 30, 2012
this property is amazing. The views were stunning, as advertised. The house itself is lovely and more relaxing than I anticipated, which is saying something. And then, right on the water...gorgeous. The few negatives are the traffic, which can be ridiculous so time your drives to non-mealtimes, and the couches weren't really comfy (to be fair, I prefer something very soft and taller in the back.) Those are minor points, though. It was a fantastic week.
Wonderfully relaxing retreat!
August 1, 2012
We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation in this charming, special home overlooking the Damariscotta River. The natural beauty of this new , splendidly designed retreat is unusual, and one really feels tucked away in a tree house. Wonderful swimming from the rocks at high tide, and we even launched our kayaks and enjoyed quiet paddles up and down the river. Lovely screened porch for reading; simple, elegant furnishings; fully equipped kitchen that overlooks the river through the trees.
July 9, 2012
Great romantic getaway for the two of us. This place has all the amenities for an enjoyable stay. Highly recommended
Still amazing a year later!

A Wonderful Getaway Retreat!
November 30, 2011
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your "gem" of a cottage nestled in the woods overlooking the water! It had everything one could ask for and MORE! Everyday began with awaking to the spectacular sunrises where the sky was ablaze with color over the water. During the day there was a lot to explore in the local area. We went to the amazing Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay and we enjoyed all the activities at the Pumpkinfest event in Damariscotta! In the aftternoon we retumed to the peace and quiet of the cottage and enjoyed all the beauty of nature surrounding us-we explored the beach and sat of the upper deck and watched the lobsterboats return We cooked in the state of art kitchen and in the evening relaxed with a good book or a TV show (we were amazed at how good the sateliteTV reception was and the variety of channels to choose from). Thanks Cindy and Mike for letting us enjoy your incredible cottage and location! us

Damarasotta River Cottage
July 19, 2011
Place was fantastic. Everything was new and they thought of everything you could possibly need. Open plan was great very good for being together while everyone is doing something different. Only complaints are is the "Dish TV" never was able to get any channel in two weeks. Didn't miss it much though. And the wifi had hot spots and weak signal or none is others upstairs. Went down to the river every day and had a glass of wine while watching the boats go by or the cormorants diving for fish. Carried two extra chairs down for a foursome. Kitchen was terrific and we cooked quite a few dinners. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
A happy departure from the ordinary
July 5, 2011
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this outstanding modern house. The owners' attention to detail is apparent throughout -- eclectic artwork, comfortable furniture, to-die-for kitchen, windows so big you feel like you're in a tree house. Everything is new, bright, and clean. If you like a secluded location in the woods and near the river, you'll be happy here. Seven of us shared the house for a week and there was room enough for all.

Wonderful view of the river and woods. Quiet. Terrific kitchen. Comfy beds. A very nice experience for all of us (7).
A REALLY SPECIAL HOUSE
July 16, 2010
My wife and I are from NYC and wanted a quiet week away. We couldn't have picked a better house. Secluded. Silent. The full wall of windows and two decks make you feel a part of the trees and water that surrounds you. We cooked, we finished our books and we visited all the small towns in the area. Great retreat.
May 13, 2010
This is a great place for a getaway from all the hustle and bustle of city life. The house itself was REALLY unique and awesome. Also very close to some nice towns. However, what made it really nice were the owners, Mike and Cindy. They took great lengths to make us feel welcome and handled all the arrangements professionally and personally. Would definitely return again!
Secluded and cozy!
April 22, 2010
The owners of this cottage have put alot of time and energy into it. It's a beautiful home away from home, and it's nice to see trees NOT houses out of every window. It still has some of the comforts of home with a nice flat screen television, dvd player, and cable. We really enjoyed the sun porch and made a few home cooked meals in the beautiful state of the art kitchen. Great stay and will come back again!
