Reviews for this vacation chalet rental in Bridgton, Maine
Ok, but not worth price
September 6, 2014
This is actually an A-frame and the tight quarters in bathroom and kitchen/living area's was tough for a family of 5 (shower was tiny). I understand rentals see abuse/wear, but this place either needs some updates/maintenance or the price should be lower. Screen door and TV broken, sailboat sail rough, downstairs bedroom smelled of urine. It was hard to relax when worrying about things breaking. Located on very busy road (RT 302), so be careful if you have children/pets. Owner was nice and communicated well. Lake and swim raft were very nice. Also was not aware that rental price did not include taxes until after deposit was paid which added over $100 more to expected price.

The house is small, old and overpriced. It is located right on the road 302 (busy and noisy road) and even though there is the fence from the road it noisy even at night time. The only plus is great view from the back of the house and good fishing.

WOULD LOVE TO REVISIT
September 1, 2014
I have just completed my vacation at this cottage and I enjoyed my time there. Communication with Rob was excellent from booking to departure. THE CAMP...I arrived last Saturday on 8/23. It was just me and my dogs. I did not use most of the cottage. Only walked upstairs once to see it, although, the view of the lake from up there is beautiful. Too difficult for my senior dogs to walk up the stairs. There is a microwave, coffee maker, teapot, stove, refrigerator, cable TV, VCR, and DVD player...all the amenities of home. The TV works fine unless you are trying to watch a VCR movie. The volume does not come through too loud and there is a high pitch that is disturbing. I did not try the DVD player. I was looking for a radio for music. I did not find one. There is a wood stove in the living room that I did not use. The bathroom is small with a shower. The bedroom on the first floor is where I slept. It was convenient. The bed was a bit hard, however, I did not expect it to be like my mattress at home. THE OUTSIDE There is a fenced in yard that I LOVED, especially for my dogs. There are horseshoes that I did not use. A tether ball, which my dogs enjoyed (so much that I purchased a new one.) A fire pit with wood available, which I did not use. There are boats available. The dock is nice to sit on and relax as well as the wrap around porch and picnic table. Easy entry into the water, which was great. Not too cold or warm. I had great weather and floated on the water a few days. I was sad when I arrived that there was not a gas grill. I was going to bring my travel grill and decided not to. There is a charcoal grill that I did not utilize. I like to go running. If you want to do this, I would leave the yard and take a right. There is plenty of room on the road to run this direction. If you go left, there is not any paved area for you to run. Be safe. If you need any swimming or ski supplies, leave the yard, take a left and approx. 1/2 mile on the left is a store. The staff was great, they inflated my float, had great clothing, and friendly prices. Shopping is not too far away in Bridgton. Again, thank you Rob for allowing me to rent your chalet. I had a very nice time. Best Regards Janet L

First impressions say a lot...we were not impressed with very strong odor of garbage when we arrived...we finally realized it was coming from overloaded cans from previous tenant...wafted into cabin also..not a good start...also not impressed with upkeep..such simple fixes would make rental much more appealing..screens repaired, windows working, clutter gone..fence is not functional, needs to be repaired to make a safe barrier to very busy road...on a positive note, close to water, windows with nice views, nice appliances...we certainly left cleaner than we found it...

A little piece of heaven
August 21, 2013
My family and I stayed a week at the chalet for the first time this summer, I do have to say I was pleasantly surprised the house as small as she is was plenty of space for my family of four, and one dog. The house was clean and airy when we arrived. The view of Shawnee Peak and the pond was breathtakingly beautiful! We all had a wonderful week relaxing on the dock and going on boat rides watching the most incredible sunsets!! Having the fenced in yard was a HUGE piece of mind knowing that my dog could walk around the property and enjoy its grounds as much as we did all the while being safe and secure. The owner Rob was pleasant and a pleasure to do business with. He made sure any concerns or questions we may have had were addressed immediately. The only negative I can say was the DVD player sound didn't work and the lack of space for storage for the food we brought was limited. All in all my family and I had the best vacation we ever had and we can't wait to visit Maine again next summer and return to the chalet that we now call a little piece of heaven!

Wonderful Family Reunion
June 11, 2013
We live in FL and rented the house for a week to hold a family reunion with our relatives that live in various parts of Maine. It was wonderful. Everything you would expect from a rustic camp and more. We are already planning next years vacation and this house is towards the top of the list.

Our family of four spent the last few days of 2012 in this chalet. It was somewhat rustic and a little dusty, but overall a comfortable place to stay. The views are spectacular. The DVD player and remotes were not working, but the scenery outside (day or night) was so incredible we didn't care. The whole cabin stayed very warm all weekend, the wood stove was wonderful. The location of this chalet was perfect for skiing and shopping. We all imagined it would be really fun in the summer as well. We would stay here again, but we would bring our own batteries, DVD player and 'swiffers'. We would recommend this chalet to anyone.
The DVD player and remote we're fine - the buttons just need to be pressed hard. I can understand why guests might be reluctant to press too hard. I invite all my patrons to call my private cell phone at any time should questions or concerns arise. Regarding the slight dust, I'll try harder!

My friends and I stayed at Rob's chalet last year the weekend of New Years and had a great time, so we've rented it again this New Years. It has everything you need to have a great time including the nice wood heat in the winter. We show up, get the wood stove going, go grab a drink at the bar, and when we come back it's nice and toasty. Initially we thought the chalet was buried in the woods somewhere, but it's right off the main drag and you would never know it. We had 4 people and there was more than enough room for all of us. Highly recommended!

Our stay at the chalet was great. It was well equipped with anything you might need and well kept. Very clean. The perfect size for a small family. Bigger inside then it looks from the road. The water and area was beautiful. Good fishing, very relaxing. Even though it is right off a main road it was private and quiet. I hope to visit again next summer.

Great Value! Camp "quaint". View was absolutely AMAZING! A very relaxing week.
Beautiful Lake front
August 6, 2012
We stayed 2 weeks at the "Chalet". It is a small, cozy A-Frame. The views were beautiful. Inside of cabin was in good shape. But.... we were disappointed in the overall general upkeep of the property. The game table was in the way and old, unable to play bumper pool even after minor repairs we made. The sail boat was waterlogged, dirty and in such disrepair it was unsailable. We had to clean out the canoe and rowboat, they were stored wrong. The small sandy beach was very samll and dirty, had to rake that area. The dock is old and looks on it's last leg and the swim dock out in the lake was just plain scary. Old tether ball on a fraid rope, rusyt horse shoes and a lst minute croquet set was funny. Oh and it's on a busy highway. Other than that our stay was great. Nice cove, great bass fishing. Fire pit on the water was beautiful, made smores several times. It is right on the lake which was amazing. There is a very nice sandy beach/park next door. Picnic tables, swim raft, play area. You can swim, boat or walk to. We love Bridgton, nice shops, good pizza, bait and tackle, movies and such. We gave it 4 stars for overall. We would return if some upkeep was done. Also saw alot of other rentals but you would have to walk down to a dock to swim or sun, not really lake front. We will probabaly reutrn to the same area but a different place. Rob was great to work with. Everything went as planned with the place and keys. I still think it was worth it

Great Week Away
July 23, 2012
Even though you are on Route 302 this chalet fells like you are way out in the woods and it is right on the lake, which is crystal clear. The chalet is stocked with everything you need and even comes with a Sunfish, a canoe, and a row boat. Whether it is swimming, fishing, or sitting around a campfire it is a very relaxing setting. Restaurants and stores are a few minutes away but you might not want to leave the chalet.
Wonderful secluded and cozy spot
June 20, 2012
I live in the area but needed some extra space for visiting family. Although I knew the general area where the cabin is located, I was amazed to see such a wonderful, secluded place and view, so close to everything and yet very low profile- I had no idea this little oasis was there. The cabin is right on the water, with big windows so you can look out and enjoy it at all times. I had fun fishing off the dock. The decks with connecting ladder were quite a treat. Hoped to trade my house and stay there myself- but no such luck! Would be fabulous to stay in winter, and watch the skiers make their way down Shawnee Peak. I was concerned that there might be a lot of road noise- but once you enter through the gate it feels like you are a million miles away from everything, and I forgot the road was even there. Cabin is simple and small- no frills- but fun, clean, and well stocked. Definitely has a camp cabin feel - if you like that, you will be very pleased. Great for winter or summer.
A Lovely Spot for a Summer Week
October 23, 2011
After staying there 3 times over the last 6 years, I would like to recommend the Chalet as a beautiful spot on the corner of a lovely lake. Each time I have brought my family here we have had a great time on Moose Pond: canoeing, swimming, and – a family favorite – sailing, using the owner’s Sunfish sailboat. The cottage is A-frame style and compact, but it has a lot of sleeping space, a well-supplied kitchen, a charcoal grille, and some good extras, like wireless Ethernet. Its owners make a good effort to keep it well maintained. It is a great place to cook-out, eat at the picnic table, and enjoy the loon calls with the coming on of evening -- or to take your morning coffee, sit on the porch, and look up from your book at the lake and summer sky.
chalet on moose pond,bridgton,maine
September 13, 2011
the chalet is on a great location and has 'beautiful' views of the pond and shawnee peak, close to restaurants and shops in bridgton, maine as well as a movie theather. the chalet could use hot water in the sink in the bathroom and the dvd player speaker had an issue with scratchy sound; we could not watch the dvd(s) we brought...other than that the short -long weekend get away was nice!

The camp was amazing. The water was nice, and the view was beautiful. The camp its self was well equipped with many amenities. Many sources of entertainment are available that come with the camp. The boats were nice to go out on and view more of the pond. Also The camp makes for a great large family enviroment.
