Reviews for this vacation cottage rental in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin
August 25, 2013
The owners of this very clean, well appointed and exceptionally comfortable cottage have done an excellent job maximizing the beautiful lake front views as well as arranging very homey furnishings and décor. The sitting areas indoors and outdoors are outstanding and the lake provided some of the best swimming we have ever experienced. Our group of two couples were more than satisfied with everything and the outdoor patio accommodated our small BBQ gathering of 8. The Esch`s are very nice hosts.

My husband, son and sons best friend stayed here for four nights in July. It was a perfect set up for us. The teen boys had the lower level and we were upstairs. The view was AWSOME. The lake was crystal clear and we took advantage of the two kayaks and canoe provided as well as swimming and just floating in the water. There is no airconditioning and it was very warm (97) while we were there but fans and the lake breeze worked for us. There was a nice lakefront trail and woods behind the cottage for walking. Road America is 5 min. away for the boys and my husband and I got wonderful massages at the Osthoff across the lake. The cottage was spotlessly clean and well stocked. John was very helpful with any questions and just a nice guy! We had a wonderful stay and would easily stay there again! Thank you John and Chris, Lucy dog too, for sharing your delightful home.
NO air conditioning!

We were assured by the homeowner that the lack of air conditioning in the cabin would not be a problem since it was always cool around the lake. Not the case! We stayed one night and had to endure a heat index of over 100 degrees; we had heat exhaustion by the next morning and both felt ill. We paid $500 for that ONE night and the home owner would not refund our money (or even make a partial refund). He was dishonest, greedy and unethical; he should refund our money. We were naive to believe that the cabin would be comfortable without air conditioning but we trusted the homeowner to tell us the truth. His excuse was that he could not control the weather; he had to know from previous conditions this summer that the cabin would NOT be livable. This experience ruined our vacation!

Having come up to Elkhart Lake are for over 25 years due to Road America, we have stayed nearly everywhere and even camped in our motorhome. But I was too excited to finally rent right on the lake our own house. Didn't look close enough to see that there wasn't any air-conditioning. Now airconditioning isn't needed all of the summer up in Wisconsin but sure enough, we are under record breaking hot days all across the whole midwest. Luckily we had brought two fans, what we always bring just to assist in blocking out noises. This cabin could use more fans for those who don't bring their own and also could have benefited from more windows that had screens. Cabin had two ceiling fans, adding one to the great 3 season porch and one in the basement could have aided these two areas. The basement de-humidifier/smell was not a problem with the windows open in the basement after a few hours. Stone deck beautiful and living room cozy. Owners of rental are friendly and live to the right of cabin. Folks who live to left had 4 dogs and those were often noisy.

We spent several nights in June at this cottage. We were very impressed by how clean and tidy everything was. The cottage has everything you could possibly need. They view from this place was amazing. There is a beautiful dock with seating area. The owners were very nice. The property was in great condition inside and out. We will be returning in Sept.
Peaceful, relaxing, and a nice last minute getaway

The cottage was very well maintained. The owners lived next door and were very attentive. It serve our family well. I just wish we could have stayed a little longer but other obligations came into play. We certainly enjoyed the fire pit. We had such a nice time roasting marshmellows with our granddaughter. We loved being able to hear the music from Victorian Village on the deck while enjoying the fire pit and the breeze coming across the lake. The pier had a nice chair to relax on and enjoy the breeze from across the lake and chat with the morning fishermen, and enjoy our coffee. The temperature was quite hot but the pine tree cover and breeze made it very comfortable. We enjoyed watching Lucy, the family dog race off the adjoining lots' pier to retrieve a stick from the water. We also enjoyed Lucy coming to visit us on occassion. Alway friendly but not intrusive. On Saturday morning we visited the Farmer's Market and scored a great Amish Pie and some cute trinkets for our granddaughter. In a month or so I am sure you can score some fabulous produce. The Feed Mill store in town offers some basics and some very nice food options. There are multiple restaurants available varying in price ranges. We headed into town one day and got icecream from Siebkin's, which tickled our granddaughter and hit the spot for us. We would not have minded duing a round of golf (even though we enjoy it more for the ability to spend time together but not because we are very good at it). This place was very nice and I would like to thank John and Kris Esch for the privilage of staying there. Dave and Rhonda Riesop
