I read somewhere this place was a gem...so correct!! I loved it! Beautiful sunrises! We had a 1 bedroom waterfront room (unit #4). The living room/dining table overlooks the Indian River Lagoon. The kitchen was spacious with ample supplies including dish soap, microwave, full stove/oven, and fridge. The bedroom was small but definitely okay--has closet, dresser, alarm clock, and the best part--a ceiling fan! The living room had a ceiling fan too! The bathroom was good--no bathtub in ours but a huge shower with rain-shower shower head. The pool was pretty warm. Really no beach to the Indian River Lagoon but in low tide we walked in the river. To my surprise--one afternoon at low tide, the water was like bathwater--soooo warm. The owners are very friendly. The office is only opened during the day. We arrived after hours and they had left our information on the door and our room key in our room. It was very easy! Everything is well kept and clean. The rooms are easy walk to the parking lot --our room was about 20 seconds to the parking lot. It is very quiet here. Some people have been here all winter-very few kids but they kids looked like they were having fun. It is 0.7 miles to downtown--you could walk or ride a bike. Downtown is really cool. Lots of good places to eat like Mulligan & Crawdaddy's. A little further is Conchy Joes--waterfront (river) seating. We walked to a little gas station/party store 0.3 miles away one morning-they had grill foods there..eggs, american fries, sandwiches. The ocean is only about 5 minutes away by car. Many choices of beaches for swimming, snorkeling, and shell collecting. My surprise--this is not the usual tourist area--no gift, surf, or tattoo shops every block. More residential areas. By car about 5-10 minutes is US-1 where there is everything like a mall, restaurants (chain and local), stores of all kinds; Walmart/Target is about 10 minutes. Publix (grocery store) & Walgreens Drug Store is about 4 minutes.
Caribbean Shores also have cottages and hotel rooms on site. I didn't see the insides but the outsides were nice, clean, and well-kept. Kayaks area available for free. There is wireless internet--only in the evening the connection was a little slower. Good selection of cable channels for the TV (located in the living area). There is a washer & dryer on site; also a laundromat about 4 minutes away. The neighborhood is clean and well kept. We loved to just drive around the area and look at things.
