Description of the Fort Myers vacation home rental
Desert Rose is the ultimate in tropical indoor /outdoor living. Inside on the main floor is a large open kitchen, long breakfast bar, dining and living areas all under a high cathedral ceiling. Double French Doors at either end of the main living area open onto large screened decks. More French Doors provide a private access from each bedroom to sitting areas on the decks and the balcony in the master bedroom. Large cool Mexican tiles soothe bare feet as your mind unwinds in a southwestern motif with a Key West soul. The outdoor part of this tropical paradise is the 3rd floor balcony looking toward the sunset over the Gulf of Mexico and the 2 large screened decks at either end of the house. Relax in the afternoon sun in the hammoc on the front porch then dine on the back deck overlooking the heated swimming pool beneath the high canopy of the pool enclosure. After dinner, massage those tired muscles against the Jacuzzi jets as you relax on the built-in pool bench and watch television. Beach chairs and bicycles are at your disposal. The Gulf of Mexico, the back bay and the grocery are all just a 5 minute walk from your front door. Snookbight, the island' s newest marina is right behind the market on the bay. They offer boat slips and a variety of water craft to rent, fishing charters as well as a fine restaurant with an open dining room overlooking Estero Bay. All just steps from the tranquility of your tropical hideaway.
Area Information
Desert Rose resides in the narrow middle of our barrier island's 7 miles of sugar sand beach. It is home to herons, snowy egrets, pelicans, ospreys and gulls. Watch for a pod of hungry dolphins accompanying you along the shoreline as you walk the beach with your morning coffee. Wildlife is abundant on the island's golf course as well just 3 miles from the house. Three miles further south, over the bridge at Big Carlos pass, is Lovers Key state park, a barrier island wilderness and preserve with a very popular beach for dogs. At the north end of the island is the fishing pier and Times Square with a variety of restaurants, shops and live music venues. At the very north end. is Bowditch park and preserve that borders the channel to the back bay harbor where the shrimp fleet is moored. Over the bridge on the mainland you will find a number of excellent shopping malls, casino gambling, greyhound races and many excellent golf courses. You can take a riverboat excursion on the Calusahatchee or explore the everglades in an airboat. There are a number of performing arts venues active year round as well asdinner theatres and a local symphony. Professional ice hockey and baseball teams call our area home. Or, you can stay on the island and take the gambling boat out for an evening on the gulf waters or a three hour boat ride on the Kew West express to explore the southernmost city in the U.S. Then again, you might just want to take a book to the hammock on the front porch and soak in the butter cream sunlight of late afternoon.

Awesome Ft. Myers Beach Home

March 27, 2015

This is a great place to rent. Skip is very helpful and fun. This house has all you need. Covered screened porches and pool. My grandsons and all of use had so much fun spashing around in this peaceful private setting. Beach across the road is very nice and not to crowded. Grocery store just on the other side of the fence and a great kitchen for cooking. My Family loved the fact that we did not have to plan a trip to the store, at night we just ran over and got things for the next day. House décor. was awesome and lots of room to sleep and play. Laundry on sight was handy as we went though a lot of towels for the pool and beach. I highly recommend this house for a bunch of people to share. Dead end street and very private. Lots of room to move around inside and out under the screened porches. Thank-You Skip, we all had a blast at your place, Blessings, Bud and Stacy- Mike and Tara - Melanie- Dylan , Brandon and Kylen.

Family Vacation 2015

March 24, 2015

We stayed in the "Desert Rose" the first week of March 2015. The home was very clean, everything you need is there in the home. The beach is a very short walk from the home. Publix grocery store is right next door and very convenient. My family had great memories in the pool. Thanks again for renting my family the Desert Rose.

Lovely stay in Desert Rose!

February 4, 2015

We absolutely loved our stay at the Desert Rose. The three bedrooms and two bathrooms were excellent for our family and friends, plus the open concept kitchen and living space were wonderful for entertaining. The pool was warm, clean, shaded and inviting after a hot, sunny day at the beach. We practically lived outdoors on the deck which is stocked with comfy couches ,tables, chairs, bbq, candles and loads of ambiance. All the amenities of home were available-washer, dryer, dishwasher, blowdryer, etc . The owner, Skip, was very accommodating and was available to help with any of our needs. We would return in a heartbeat!

Fun & Eclectic House -

October 1, 2014

The house had everything we needed - comfortable beds, great pool, 3 outside areas to converge and 2 minute walk to beautiful Ft. Meyers Beach which is by far the my most favorite beach to date. The dryer broke on day 2 and Skip had a new one delivered to the house the same day! You can beat that kind of attentiveness. He also showed us how to operate the pool so we could adjust the temp to our liking where other houses we have had to beg the owner to turn it up/down. The house is just comfortable. You feel like you're visiting a close Aunt or Uncle who have a very creative and fun personality. The house has charm throughout and Skip's collection of books is very impressive. We also had great dinning experiences for every meal. We would recommend Doc Ford's, Matanzas Inn, and our absolute favorite Fresh Catch Bar and Grill. All dinning is right on the island and others just across the bridge. So convenient and overall reasonable versus Destin area. Overall our new home away from home is Ft. Meyers Beach. I just can't imagine any other place in Florida could top this vacation. And thank you Skip! You were so helpful and kind to us. We really got a personal touch from you and we wish you all the best! Excellent vacation

December 31, 2013

The home is large and comfortable. The pool is heated and so relaxing. The owner is very easy to work with and the location is great. The grocery store is right next door, the marina is directly behind the grocery store, and the trolley stop is right at the end of the block. The shelling was great. We went on a boating excursion with Chubby's Tropical Adventure and that was the best boat trip we have ever taken, saw dolphins jumping in the wake behind the boat, and can't wait to go again on our next visit. We will definitely stay at this home again and also think everyone renting the Desert Rose will be very satisfied.
