Reviews for this vacation home rental in Fort Pierce, Florida
Great place to stay

Our family really enjoyed our time at this house. It is quiet and peaceful, only 15 minutes from the Hutchinson Island beaches which we visited nearly every day. The nice kitchen and grill made it easy to cook some meals in. The kids loved the big pool. Would definitely come back.

AMAZING! What a beautiful home...Spacious, quiet, and a great price. Close to the beaches and a wonderful seafood resturant (Mangrove Matties). Home was very clean and the owner and grounds keeper were very prompt and helpful (large black snake). Horses were wonderful and we were able to hand feed them. Rooter & chickens roam property and lay fresh eggs daily...yummmm. We cant wait to return :) A little piece of country for these city folk!

Stayed in July 2012

My family and I visited this property for 7 days in July. Our overall experience was a good one, with this exception of the first 24 hours. When we arrived at around 2:30pm, the home was not ready for us. We were told the house would be available to us at 1pm. We left and went for lunch because they were in the middle of cleaning. We were told this was due to a mix-up with the previous guests. When we got back from lunch, we found the temperature in the house to be 84 degrees. We were informed that the previous guests had turned off the air and that it would just take time to cool off. Mind you, this is in July in Florida and it was easily in the mid to upper 90's outside. After my husband spent all afternoon trying to get things worked out, with phone calls going back and forth to the owner and caretakers, it was determined that a repairman had to be called. There are three A/C units in the house, but the temperature inside remained at 84 degrees until the evening, when it slowly (painfully slowly) dropped into the upper 70's. Half our our party decided to go to a hotel for the night. Around 11am the next morning, the A/C repairman arrived and the problem was corrected. Luckily, the rest of our stay was much better. The interior of the house was very roomy and the beds were quite comfortable. The pool and jacuzzi were nice too. The pool was pretty warm, but that is to be expected this time of year in Florida. The kitchen was large and nicely equipped. Just a heads up about the horses. They were much closer to the house than we thought they would be. There was only one day by the pool that you could smell them, I guess because of the way the wind was blowing. The caretaker was quite nice and available to us when we had issues. I must say that we were very disappointed in the owner's reaction to our A/C problem. In the end, we requested one day's refund for the inconveniece caused by the temperature in the house. We received $45 instead of the $158 we asked for. Apparently, she believes that 84 degrees is livable and we did not. She stated in her letter back to us that "she just couldn't seem to please me and that I focused on a minor thing that was taken care of very, very quickly." Well, when you only have 7 days for vacation that you have looked forward to for 6 months, and 22 hours is taken up with an A/C problem, I don't feel like that is minor. I could not recommend this property due to the owner's attitude towards us.

I would not recommend this property for rental especially for anyone with small children. The home owner lives in another state and allows the neighbor to oversee the property. The neighbor shares a drive with the rental house and the gate that is supposed to be locked at all times is always left open to allow the many visitors that the neighbor has at all hours of the day and night to enter and leave at will. We were never even given the key code to the gate because it was never closed. We were also never given the key code to the front door because the spare key is always left in the planter outside the door. This is a huge safety issue. Another safety issue is that both the sliding door to the deck and the deck door to the pool were broken and did not latch giving little ones direct access to the pool. The spa/hot tub was green upon our arrival and it took them several days to resolve the issue. There was a glass patio table beside the pool that had broken the week prior to our arrival that was not cleaned up properly which resulted in one of our guests getting a large chunk of glass embedded in her foot while in the pool. She later had to have it surgically removed. After coming home, I waited for over a month on my deposit to be returned before having to contact the home owner to inquire. She then told me that there had been damages to the home and she would be deducting $100 from my deposit due to these damages. She could not provide any proof of the damages but after two months waiting for my refund, I felt lucky to get back the $400 that she finally did refund. We paid a $150 cleaning fee but the cleaning report stated that they had to clean "above and beyond" the norm because they had to wash a few dishes and take the trash out. I honestly feel like this is one of the worst vacation experiences I have ever had and I hope this review saves some of you the same trouble that I and my family experienced.

This vacation was made extraordinary by living in this beautiful home for a week. We would rent this again in a second. Pros: Close to everything—far enough away to be quiet. Decorated beautifully inside and out. Quiet Horses to admire Pool Spa Owner was very responsive to a few issues Care taker was there if needed. Cons: Pool was too cool to swim in ( act of nature not a problem) Spiral stairs are somewhat hard to navigate for older adults Rooster doesn’t have a cut off switch 4:30 AM!
