Wonderful pet-friendly beach retreat
June 1, 2015
We stayed in Brisas the week of 5/18-22/2015. The weather was great and we had a great time. The totally fenced back yard was perfect - you can take the pups back and forth from the beach as many times as they can handle, and then they can rest in the yard without having to climb the stairs multiple times. The way the house is situated, there is always some shade in the back yard. The deck area stays shaded morning through mid-afternoon, and then the shade moves into the yard area until evening. My dogs are older, so they could only manage one trip downstairs in the morning and then back up before bedtime. The walk to the beach is very short, about a block. The park authority keeps the neighborhood beach area pretty clean and there are no crowds to deal with. The ground floor deck is very nice with a hot tub, small charcoal grill and chairs. My only quibble with the ground floor deck is that a little table (to stage items during grilling) would be helpful. The upper deck has a very nice view of the beach/ocean and is great for eating out. The neighborhood does periodic mosquito spraying, so we saw very few of the bloodsuckers during our stay. The house is very nice and all the appliances work well. The bedrooms each have a TV, and the evenings are very quiet and restful. We were outside almost all day every day, so we didn't get to use the living room area much at all, but it also has a nice TV and furniture. When we first arrived, some of the exterior lights were burned out, but Marilyn was super responsive, and the very nice handyman had everything fixed up a couple of hours later. Folks with dogs may want to inquire when the lawn service is scheduled during the week so you can make sure the dogs are out of the way at that time. There is a little mom and pop grocery/deli less than a mile down the road, which was a good convenience. This is a great property and I hope we can return again.
Thanks for the great review Steve! We are so happy that you and the pups enjoyed your stay at Brisas. Just a note about the downstairs table - the table was damaged in the storm we had a few weeks ago and could not be saved. It will be replaced as soon at they are back in stock. I guess a lot of folk's tables need to be replaced. Hope to see you back soon!

we stayed here with two couples and two friends for my husbands birthday. We were so pleasantly surprised as we opened the door. The photos don't quite do it justice. This house was super clean and has lots of windows were you have almost a full view of the ocean. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the dishes and utensils you could possibly need. Even a few board games in the closet. The one bathroom was never a problem even with 6 people drinking nearly all day. Beds were comfy and felt like home. We liked it so much we stayed an extra night. We will definitely be back! Thank you for such a wonderful experience:)

The perfect beach retreat in Galveston
June 24, 2014
We just spent a week at this amazing little beach house. Surprisingly for a relatively small square footage, the actual appearance was very spacious because of the open floorplan. The covered deck was a welcomed refuge from the sun while embracing the constant ocean breezes. The house was absolutely perfect and the owner was very accommodating to our every request. The neighborhood is quiet and offers a very safe feeling. We took our precious little puppies and our youngest baby just couldn't get enough of the deck and the ocean wind. The hot tub was an unexpected surprise when we awoke the 2nd day with sore legs from being in the ocean. A quick soak, again while enjoying the ocean breeze and we were renewed. I can not say enough good things about this home. The only downside was the abundance of seaweed but for a piece of heaven it was a small price to pay. We will definitely return to this home for many years to come. Marilyn, thank you, thank you, thank you. Keep this little gem for those of us that do not have the opportunity to live on the beach. It was the perfect getaway.
Thanks so much for the lovely review! We really appreciate hearing about the wonderful experiences folks are having at Brisas and on our beautiful beach. The Palm Beach Supporters Alliance was formed this summer to deal with the unusual amount of seaweed that has been washing in on our beaches. We now have a professional beach raking service that removes the seaweed once a week and keeps our beach as clean and seaweed free as possible. Thanks again!
Awesome Beach House

This place is a composition of peace and serenity. The decor was tastefully done in a very pleasing manner to provide a very casual atmosphere. The view from the veranda of the beach couple with a drink in hand is great, followed by a walk on the beach and finishing with a late night soak in the hot tub, priceless.

We loved everything about our stay at Brisas. It is a great area full of super nice people. The house was perfect for the two of us and our dog as it has a fenced in yard. The lady I dealt with during the scheduling process was wonderful to work with and always available if I had questions or concerns. We fell in love with Galveston and when we head back down we will definitely at Brisas!!
Perfectly peaceful location!

I don't usually do online reviews, but my experience at Brisas was so wonderful I wanted to share. Although, part of me thinks it's better to keep it all to myself! :-) I first contacted the owners because I found another of their properties that I was interested in but it was booked. They told me about this newly acquired property (in the same neighborhood) The pictures looked wonderful, close to the beach, quiet (no cars allowed on that part of beach), etc.. But you never know what you're going to get when you arrive and since I had never done an online reservation I was a bit anxious. I have to say it was everything the owners said and more! The location is the absolute best! Three houses from the beach, so you can go whenever you want without having to worry about getting in your car and parking. The house more than met my needs. Having never rented a vacation home before, I brought lots of things with me. But didn't need most because the kitchen was completely stocked and sheets and towels were provided. Plus there are stores close enough that if you forget something you can drive within minutes and get whatever you need. They even had free Wi-fi, which was a pleasant surprise. And having a washer/dryer meant I didn’t have to lug dirty clothes home. Being a dog owner I was even impressed with the fence, since there were no gaps or ways for a small dog to get out. A fantastic Gulf view that I enjoyed every morning on the deck (even my little dog loved hanging out on the deck, which is gated). Most mornings I would feed her and then we would take an early morning walk on the beach, then head back and have my own breakfast and coffee outside while listening to the waves! And you're close enough to the city of Galveston so you can drive a few minutes and enjoy tourist attractions, without being too close to hear the traffic and noise from a public beach. It was so peaceful and calming, I didn’t want to leave!! In fact, I’ve told friends about my experience and several have asked me for the info so they can look into staying there! I will most definitely be going back and now think of Galveston and this area as my home away from home. Thank you Marilyn for sharing your house and allowing others to experience the calming influence of the beach!
I just wanted to say thank you. We had a wonderful time at your rental property this weekend, Everything was great from the proximity to the beach, the amenities of the house and things to do around the island. It really was a fantastic time and I cannot thank you enough. If we decide to rent a house again we will definitely be talking to you.
We brought my grandmother down here for her 70th birthday. She loves Galveston! We all had a blast. The view from the deck is amazing and can't wait to return.
My family and I stayed at Brisas for 6 nights and had a wonderful time. We played at the beach, rode the ferry to Boliver Island and went to Schlitterbahn. The house was perfect for us, close to the beach and certainly met our needs. The patio rocks on the 4th. Fireworks were everywhere and the kids loved it. (Frankly, so did the parents)! Overall the trip was awesome and we would do it again here next year.
