Most nationalities will need a visa to enter Ecuador. You can get a tourist visa at the airport or the border. Depending on your nationality, you will get 60 or 90 days. You can get an extension at the migration office at the migration office (Av Rio Daule, next to the bus terminal, Tel. 229-7004). You can also get a work, student, business or residence visa, which is more complicated and expensive. Because chances are that you will be asked to show your passport at a checkpoint, it is not advisable to overstay your visa.
The “Simon Bolivar International Airport” is about 10 minutes (by taxi) north of the city centre. If you carry luggage, take a taxi. During daytime you can walk half a block out of the terminal to the “Av de las Americas” – the taxifare is almost half as cheap there.
Even though most people who come to the city are rather business visitors than tourists, Guayaquil offers some attractions that are worth seeing:
The old district “Las Peñas” is the only part of the city where the wooden houses were not destroyed by fire and you can get an impression of the old, picturesque colonial Guayaquil.
Or you walk along the riverside that has been refurbished in the project “Malecón 2000”. There you find a mall and a park with historical monuments (the area is open till 12am).
Guayaquil´s churches as “La Merced” or “San Francisco”, the beautiful cemetery below “Cerro el Carmen”, several museums, the Botanical Gardens and parcs (the Parque Bolivia in front of the Cathedral is filled with tame iguanas) are also definitely worth a visit.

Nice relaxing stay,
February 12, 2015
Our host went out of his way to take care of us! He met us at bus station, took us shopping for groceries ( took over an hour), and took us to ATM. My husband asked for two more pillows and he bought them for us! Condo is located in nice suburb of Guayaquil, so it is out of the way from most things to do in the city. But there are several nice shopping malls, historical parks and an IMAX theatre in the area. Small strip mall within walking distance. The complex is well secured. Taxis are available by calling front gate. Cost was $8.00 back to bus station. The home was clean and fairly well stocked. It had everything we needed (party of 6) although mix matched. Pots and pans needed upgrading, but after all, this is Ecuador, not Miami! Our bed was very comfortable, and there was air conditioning in all bedrooms upstairs, as well downstairs. Wi-fi was off and on, but our host, Pat, came right over to show us how to get it back on. Signal was good. We had a washer and dryer which we used a lot. Huge bath towels and wash cloths were appreciated. No hot water in showers, but the water was not cold. Amenities were supplied, including dish soap, TP, paper towels ans some detergent for washer. There was TV in two bedrooms and living room. There was a swimming pool a short walk away, which we never used, but it looked nice. All in all it was a very nice stay and I would definitely stay there again.

Good House, Good Location!!!
March 23, 2014
Me and my wife rented this house for 3 weeks and we had a wonderful experience with the people renting the property. They were professional and very helpful. We would recommend it to friends and family and to anyone who is looking for a rental in Guayaquil. Thanks for everything!!!

Our home away from home
November 4, 2013
We arrived on Thursday evening and as soon as we walked in the house felt very cozy and welcoming. Very clean and it had all the essentials to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We felt very safe with the around the clock security - our six year old enjoyed the pool and playground which was very close to the house. We will definately stay in this house in the future.
VERY BAD EXPERIENCE
March 15, 2011
Ok First Of All The House Is Located In A Nice And Quiet Area A Little Bit Far From The City. The House Wasn't Clean Enough And Organized As It's Supposed To Be. I Booked This House For 8 Days. In My Second Day I Didn't Had Water Service For Almost 3 Days Which Was The Worst Of All, I Think The Person In Charge Wasn't To Professional To Help Me With This Matter. Coffee Maker Never Worked, Bed Sheets And Towels Looked Dirty And Were Not Properly Organized Where It Supposed To Belongs (closets), After Being Out Of The House Because Of The Water; I Came Back To The House And I Wanted To Make A Breakfast And Guess What I Was Running Out Of Gas, I Couldn't Cook And I Had To Give Away All The Food That I've Bought. I Couldn't Believe That Was Happening On My Vacations And The Person In Charge Just Told Me To Call The Company For A Delivery To Be Paid On My Own, When All This Services Were Paid In Advance. Two Days Before Come Back Home I Wanted To Wash My Cloth To Bring Everything Clean And Guess What Washer Wasn't Working. Air Conditioners Were Not Strong Enough To Keep The House Or Rooms Fresh, Temperatures In Guayaquil Are So High. Ants Were All Over The Place Even In Beds. I Can't Rate This Experience, There's Nothing Under 5 Stars. This Is Not The First Time A Booked Through Vacation Home Rental But The First Time Terrible Experience. Seven Days Have Passed Since And I Haven't Got A Call From Owner And Not Even My Deposit Back.

The house has everything the website says. Is very clean and has all you need for your vacation. No need to bring anything besides your clothes. Is in a great and safe location, but a little too far from the main street. You will definitely need a car .... overall is a great house to rent and Ivan makes the rental process really smooth!

We stayed here last year and came back again this year because we liked it, in spite of cold showers and a musty mattress. Notified owner, who fixed that. This time when we arrived there was no soap, no toilet paper, unclean sheets, no dish detergent, etc. plus we had to wait a very long time for the manager to arrive and let us in. The same thing happened last year...both times he said he didn't know we were arriving on that date. We don't plan to return.

Great for "La Familia"
July 15, 2010
Great home for a trip to visit "La Familia". Close to old and new Guayaquil. Located in the safest part of the city called Sanborandon. Home has all the features of an American Home: Nice size rooms, bathrooms, kitchen and laundry room. Pool, Ping Pong and Tennis are right across the street. Home comes with Internet service, cable and stereo and all the kitchen utensils you need and more. You definitely need a car to get to the main road and to venture into town and beyond. Be careful driving. There are no rules! It takes 10-15 minutes to get to the airport and 1 1/2 hours to get to the closet beach. We stayed for 2 weeks and it was very easy for family and friends to reach us and enjoy our home away from home. Home comes nicely decorated with a large dining room table and living space to entertain. The home has a small backyard complete with a small patio table, chairs and a BBQ. There are few houses in the Guayaquil/Sanborandon area that can match what this place offers. All the people living in this gated community are professional and friendly. The place is secured and quiet at night. Bring mosquito spray and sun block because there is plenty of flies and sun near the waterfront development. Also, make sure you take a run to the supermarket to fill up your refrigerator because there is nothing within walking distance to get close by. One last thing: Invest in good drinking water. I found the large bottle water in town to be really bad. Otherwise, stick to wine and enjoy.
Excellent hosting in Guayaquil

Ivan's house is a great way of spending your stay in Guayaquil, especially if you're more persons! All the North American comfort you can ask for plus excellent help and support from Ivan! All OK, thank you!
Beautiful House In Beautiful Neighborhood
October 27, 2009
We stayed in this lovely home for two weeks. It had everything you could ask for. The security was first rate, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Ivan, the owner went out of his way to be of help. The house is in a new part of Guayaquil that will make you feel like your back in an upscale neighborhood in the USA. I would recomend this house over any five star hotel in Guayaquil.
