We would love to have you visit our beautiful Haleiwa vacation rental! Our 3200 sq. foot home sits on 10 acres of VERY private farmland at the end of a gated dirt road. We’re surrounded only by our orange and lemon groves, the Wai’anae mountain range, and the nearby Anahulu stream. The views are beautiful and panoramic from inside the house and out - no matter where you look you will not see another house, only greenery! Lenora has a green thumb, so be prepared to be surrounded by lush tropical landscaping and blooming orchids. We have views of both the sunrise and the sunset that will take your breath away. Our fully furnished home is perfect for romantic getaways, family vacations or holidays with friends.
Lokoea Farms (our family farm) is a real working farm. Don and our daughter, Noe, would love to show you around our orchards and you can even pick your own oranges, papaya, mango, avocado, or whatever is in season. We love to share the Hawaiian lifestyle with our guests, and if you’re interested we can show you how to string a plumeria lei, open up a coconut, or make the freshest smoothies you’ve ever tasted!
Our friendly farm dogs are named Jingles, Ramona, and Auggie, and they LOVE our guests. If you get lucky, you may even get to meet Meowter, our farm cat, and Bella and Helen, our hens!
Our Haleiwa Secret Garden Paradise vacation rental is a 5 minute drive or a short walk to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, such as Ali’i beach, Laniakea (turtle beach), Waimea Bay, Pipeline and Sunset Beach. We’re just a couple of minutes from Historic Haleiwa Town (known for its country atmosphere, excellent restaurants and eateries (Matsumoto shave ice!) and quaint boutiques and galleries. You can get away from it all or be in the heart of Waikiki in a quick 40 minutes. It really is the perfect vacation home on the North Shore.
The Haleiwa vacation home rental is comprised of the entire first floor of our house (1600 sq ft) while we occupy the top story, close enough to ask for advice on where to eat, where to surf, where to go for fun. The rental has private entrances, a private patio with al fresco dining area and grill. It sleeps 5 adults comfortably with 2 huge bedrooms with queen-sized beds, and a queen-sized couch (futon) bed in the living room. We also have a fold-out mattress that can be used if needed. You’ll love relaxing on the lush grass in our 1/2 acre yard, on the porch swing on the covered lanai, or on the sunbathing lounges around the back of the house.
The living room includes a cable TV, DVD, VCR (with lots of old VHS movies!) and CD player. We have a library of Hawaiian books, board games, and lots of old VHS movies to keep you busy on rainy days. The fully-equipped mini kitchen includes a refrigerator, stove top, sink, microwave, and everything you need for cooking and eating. And don’t forget about the charcoal grill outside on the lanai!
No need to rent beach equipment - we have beach mats and chairs, boogie boards, snorkels & fins, beach towels, coolers, and more! Our washer and dryer are available for your use. Wireless internet access is also available.
Hope to see you soon!

While the Haleiwa was set in the middle of nowhere, Dillingham had a plan. He had laid tracks for an ambitious railroad to serve his sugar plantations between Honolulu and Waialua, and he figured placing a grand hotel at the end of the line would be a way to further capitalize on his investment. For years, visitors and residents alike rode the train to spend some leisure time at the beachside resort. Shortly after, the town adopted the name Haleiwa.
The hotel is gone now, but this old plantation town continues to welcome visitors. Designated a Historic, Cultural and Scenic District in 1984, Haleiwa has maintained its simple charm and laid-back environment. Aging storefronts line its main street. This is definitely a “shorts and slippers” kind of place.

Very peaceful and charming place

We were very happy to stay at this property, equipped with everything we needed and set in so quiet surroundings and so close to to town and beaches. We appreciated the warm welcome, all the precious informations we could get from the owners, and the wonderful fruits and flowers. And we won't forget how to make "leis" ! Thank you for letting us sharing your house !
We so enjoy meeting you your family from Switzerland. It is always a delight to learn of the many places our guests live in the world! We are always happy to share our fruits and flowers with our guests! Making Hawaiian lei's is fun! In Hawaii, we give lei's as gifts for all occasions!
Mahalo for your kind words!
A Hui Hou (Until we meet again)! Lenora * : )

Absolutely loved our stay in this beautiful, private, quiet place. There is everything you could wish for. We loved Leonoras flowers and gardens and took heaps of photos. The beaches and the charming village Haleiwa are just around the corner. Would love to go back there.
Exactly what we were looking for
We booked a 10 day family vacation at the end of the summer - an opportunity to gather the 20 and 17 yr olds together and have some family time before the fall schedules and routine took over. Our oldest was a bit skeptical about going on a family vacation but subsequently declared this one of the best vacations ever. Our stay at Secret Gardens was definitely a contributing factor. Everyone really enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere, the easy going presence and helpfulness of the owners, the pets (both a big hit), the easy proximity to Halewii and north shore beaches, use of beach gear, availability of board games, and the peaceful atmosphere. We all remarked on the sense of relaxation that set in once back 'home' after a trip to Honolulu or other destinations.

Seclude and Serene
I stumbled on this Secret Garden while looking for a different noncommercial holiday in Hawaii. I wanted something that felt closer to the local environment. Though Haleiwa is a well known Surfing Hotspot, it still holds a small village atmosphere, something that is so precious in this stressful world. The Secret Garden reflects the healing, stress free atmosphere I was looking for, it’s a home built to respect to the power serenity. It sets off the main throughway and is surrounded by beautiful tropical vegetation, flowers and fruit everywhere. In the morning you arise to the fresh cool breeze carrying the songs of multiple wild birds, soft white low clouds hovers over the mountain tops. As the sun rises in the sky, the day stays serene, untouched by the outside stressful world. By midday, a very light rain baths the greenery and the breeze blows all the patchy clouds out to the sea, it’s like nature is telling you it is time to go to the beach and enjoy what else North shore Hawaii has to offer.

christmas in paradise
The Secret garden was perfect from banana trees and oranges right outside the door toshort walk/drive to Haleiwa. Don and Lenora embody the hawaiin spirit with aloha hospitality. Donald and Lenora's knowledge of the islands made it easy to avoid tourist traps and to reaaly see the parts of Oahu that have made our trip memorable. The condo itself is spacious and modern and very tastefullly decorated. It truly is paradise.

Absolutely the BEST!
We decided to stay at the Secret Garden in Haleiwa for our first family trip to get away from the busy atmosphere of Honolulu. My wife, two boys (8 &5), and I had a great time and would come back again, hopefully in a few years! We thought the pictures looked nice and amenities were appropriate. We were impressed beyond expectation. The owners, Lenora and Donald, were very hospitable and offered us great local insight on the fun things to do in the area. The property with its open floor plan and beautiful garden was a complete relaxing oasis to recover and prepare for our numerous adventures. The bedrooms were large with comfortable beds. The kitchen had everything we needed except groceries (thankfully, Costco is ~30 min. down the road)! The bathroom is fine and we never were without warm water. There is a newer model washer/dryer which made hygiene easy. The living room is spacious and full of comfortable furniture. Great for unwinding in the evening. The beach is only 5-10 min. away in a car which was awesome! Overall a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone looking to get away from the city and enjoy a holiday of peace and beauty. Thank you Donald and Lenora! We hope to meet again!

A true secret garden
Lenora and Don's porperty is a true paradise. Very secluded but still within short walking distance from Haleiwa, "the secret garden" will give you such a peaceful stay. The owners are so lovely and will help you with everything. Especially when it comes to surfing. The property is very clean and has all the amenities you need. The photos can't show you the real beauty of the place. I hope we can go back one day.

Secret Garden Paradise- 6 Stars!
Lenora and Donald, (& Jingles and Meower) were wonderful hosts for our family's first visit to Hawaii. We'd hoped for a beautiful, relaxing house for our 11 day stay, and we were rewarded with a home beyond our expectations. The loudest sounds were the birds in the trees and the occasional coconut thudding into the turf (don't forget to ask Donald to help you harvest one!). Hundreds of orchids, plumeria and other tropical plantings greet you in the morning, along with the sun brushing the mountains behind Waialua. You'll be in the middle of nowhere, 2 minutes from town and 5 minutes from Turtle Beach (Laniakea). Don't miss the nightly sunset display from the harbor in Haleiwa.

What a gem
We stayed at the Secret Garden for a week and had a wonderful time at Donald and Lenora's home. The property was definitely off the beaten path - beautiful and secluded. As we were on a surfing holiday, we enjoyed the peace and quiet that their property had to offer. All amenities were as described. We particularly enjoyed eating all our meals outside on their picnic table, soaking up all the wonderful greenery that surrounded us. Donald and Lenora were wonderful hosts, extremely helpful and caring. We hope to come back soon!! Thank you!!

Paradise found here!
Everything was so clean and as the photos show. The host even brought in a sweet smelling blooming orchid for us to enjoy from her massive collection. Their home is a true Hawaiian theme which the decor reflects. We were so happy to have found this secret place and thank them for having us. A highlight was snorkling with 4 sea turtles nearby! We hope to return to this perfect secret garden in paradise! Mahalo to you both!

Would like to personally thank you for your wonderful and awesome hospitality and home. It was our first time to Hawaii for a family and surfing holiday and it was the best decision to stay at the Secret Garden! Feels very private and kids loved the pets! Very secure with the security gates and had everything you need to feel like home. 2min drive to most surf spots and Haleiwa and only 10-15 drive to other major spots on the north shore. We will be back.
