Description of the Harwich vacation home rental
Spacious (2700 sq ft) 4BR/3Bath, contemporary home on quiet street with private back yard, and only 100 yards to deeded Long Pond Beach. Two bedrooms on each floor, with a living room and den on the first floor, and a huge rec room upstairs (with pool table). There is a restful front porch as well as a big, private rear deck (16' x 26'). The bike trail abuts the back yard. Free wi-fi and cable TV. Overall a popular, clean, modern home with plenty of sleeping and living space.
BEACHES: All houses on the street share the deeded beach, so it's not private, but a short walk from the house and a nice way to enjoy the water (swimming, using the kayak or fishing from the shore). There's also a large town beach (with a lifeguard) about a 1/2 mile down the road. By purchasing a beach sticker, you can use the boat ramp to put in a ski or sail boat. I will leave a 2 person kayak at the house for your use as well.
Bank Street beach on Nantucket Sound is Harwich's best, and is 4 miles away.
Nauset Beach (National Seashore) in Orleans is only 20 minutes away.
RECREATION: The Cape Cod Tech High School is a 1/2 mile down the road which has tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball diamonds and a 1/4 mile track. This is also where the Brewster Whitecaps (Cape Cod League) play.
There are several acres of conservation land where you can hike (or run) on paths through the woods. They are 3/4 of a mile away and easily reached via the bike trail.
If you're interested in golf, Cranberry Golf course is about 1 1/2 miles away, and one of the best courses on the Cape.

Great house for a big group

August 1, 2015

The house is beautiful and spacious. The kitchen is fairly well equipped (four coffee makers!) and we pulled off some overly ambitious cooking plans. The dining room easily sits 12 for meals. But there is also lots of room for a big group to break into smaller ones: porch and patio outside, and family room, den, game room, and TV nook inside. (The driveway accommodates four cars.) The bedroom configuration is a bit confusing and we had to discuss it with the owner before being sure the house could accommodate us but five couples and two children fit comfortably without resorting to the sofa sleeper! The Bank Street and Red River beaches are both convenient, nice but quite different in character. Shopping and dining are nearby as well.

Right balance of affordable and enjoyable

August 31, 2014

I'd like to start with reviewing the owner. Kevin is WONDERFUL. From the moment I first inquired about house to the day that we left he was always available to answer any question. While at the property we did have one little snafu and he answered the phone on the first call and walked us through a quick repair. The house is generously spacious. The pictures do not do it justice. We had ages from 8 to 70+ and everyone was comfortable. We also had guests from all over the country (as far away as Seattle). There was always somewhere to sit together or wander off on your own. The pool table and two rooms with TV's (and the master) were exactly what our 10 guests needed. We cooked many of our meals and found the kitchen to be adequate and the grill to work as expected. The dishwasher was really handy - without it we surely would have eaten out many more times. I love the fact that the neighborhood itself is quiet. We took advantage of the rail trail (bike path), kayak, pond, and shared beach access. We also were nicely situated to explore from Provincetown, Chatham, Hyannis, and more. We found grocery stores and tourist spots all within a reasonable distance without feeling "crowded" by tourists. The nearby Harding beach is wonderful for swimming at this time of year if you want to get out to the salt water. The seals at Chatham pier are adorable, and the sunsets from Rock Harbor beach was spectacular. All in all, we were very happy with our choice to stay at this particular house. It's really difficult to know what you're getting into when renting site unseen, but Kevin made it so hospitable with lots of little touches throughout the house (and his personality) that we would definitely rent here again.

Great vacation on the cape

September 2, 2013

Great property well located in Harwich, short walk to the pond and just a short drive to either the bay or ocean beaches. Very spacious with plenty of room to spread out. Would definitely return again to this home!

Quiet & Accessible

August 15, 2013

Extended family of 12 stayed for a week and the house was perfect for all ages (ranging from 2mths to mid 70s). Gave us all more than enough space and things to do during the week! The quiet neighborhood was perfect (especially for walking our dogs with our two young kids), the cut thru to the rail trail proved invaluable (a tad steep for some – however a more flat road access was just around the corner. The kayak was a hit with all the kids (and adults alike – even Grandma was out in the middle of the lake!). Agree with others here that the kitchen was small, but we also grilled outside for most of the time – who wants to be stuck cooking in a kitchen?! An excellent time had by all!

Convenient and Charming

August 1, 2013

Stayed for a week in this Harwich home. the first two days were terribly hot but there were fans everywhere so we were comfortable. Everything is here that you need. The bike trail is so close, the lake is beautiful and the home is well equipped. I imagine the upstairs would be great for kids. Television, a pool table, games, a bathroom, and a bunch of twin beds. Downstairs are two more queen-sized bedrooms and two bathrooms. The kitchen is small, but we grilled outside on the beautiful deck or went out to dinner...Hey, it's vacation. Overall, a wonderful time on the Cape. You can't beat that!

Lots of room! Including large game room with pool table. Large front porch and XLarge back deck. Big yard for games, etc. Also, has hammock and horseshoes in upper yard! Walk out the front door and you can see the beautiful view of Long Pond, walk 30 steps to Long Pond to the small local beach area, perfect for quick dips and fishing, kayaking (2 person kayak at the house with life jackets!). Walk out the back door..down small path to the bike path! General store a few steps away. Explore down bike path a little and more public beach areas. The house has 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, plenty of room, we figured out with all the beds and pull out couches, could have slept 13 to 14 people! The 2 bedrooms upstairs have walk in closet area for suitcases, clothes, etc. This house has everything! Refrigerator even has ice maker for your drinks, coolers/etc. Gas grills and plenty of candles, grilling accessories, plates, all at the house. Laundry and dishwasher. Just bring your towels and sheets! The kitchen is smaller size but you're on vacation, who spends time in the kitchen! We had a blast and are planning to rent this house in Harwich next July. The owner was available via email and/or phone calls for any questions we had about house/area. Very close to house, we played tennis daily about 1-2 miles away..VERY close to Rt6 and a few miles from Rt28. Harwich Port, a great little town to walk around with many ocean beaches around. And the bay side a couple of miles the other way....so much to do, and all so close to the house. You could have taken the bike path just about anywhere from the house.
