Spent the week cleaning! (1/2 star for the view)

August 25, 2014

Upon walking in the house there was a lot of clutter in the garage and the garbage cans were full. I immediately noticed a very cheap 1 sq ft stick down vinyl tiles improperly installed. The kitchen had cheap countertops and dirty (dusty) glasses and silverware. There was a floating cherry laminate floor that covered half the house and left a big 1" step to trip over. The floor was disgusting with dust bunnies and pet hair. There was a couple of throw down carpets with pet urine stains and the furniture was all second hand, mismatching items you would find at a garage sale. Two of the bedrooms were very small and one did not have a closet. Didn't really matter anyway as the closets were full with the owners cloths so most of the family never unpacked the suitcases for the week. Sound bad? It gets worse! Most of the windows did not have screens so we could not open them. I spend the first 2-3 hours vacuuming spider webs from the windows, screens, and doorways (which all came back within 36 hours because they can get in). The windows were cheap and did not properly seal so it was pointless trying to keep the spiders out and from making webs all over. The doors did not properly lock/shut (until I fixed it- your welcome!). The place was suppose to be two full baths, but one shower leaked so all 6 of the family had to share the shower in the master bedroom. The washer and dryer we refused to use even though we did our best to clean them. The wash machine was full of black mold and smelled and the dryer did left lint on the laundry (there was never anything on the lint screen). The basement was unfinished with another stained carpet, a dirty couch, and a bed without sheets (oh ya- not sure if any of our sheets were clean and there was no extras to be found). There was no way anyone was sleeping down there! We hoped to use the hot tub and relax but after flipping of the cover (which was not the correct size for it) I noticed how nasty it looked. I was told that she just put chlorine in it but it did not matter as there was hair floating around in it and other dirt on the bottom. As I was looking it over figuring out if I could clean it out a swarm of yellow jackets began flying around my head! Needless to say we never used the hot tub all week! After cleaning and trying to fix things the first night we began to think about bed and that's when we noticed the smell! The septic leached out shit smell all vacation and soaked the lawn with mud! Spacious and open floor plan that was wonderful for our family gathering...views in almost every room! Huge wrap around porch with a covered deck overlooking lake. Sunsets were amazing. Everything was clean and super comfortable beds...couldn't ask for more. Our family loved staying here. Thanks Trudy, can't wait to come back this summer.
