Reviews for this vacation home rental in Kailua-Kona, Big Island, Hawaii
Unlucky in Kona
March 2, 2013
Amy has created a lovely and comfortable suite in her home. She is very hospitable and willing to help. However, we are very disappointed with Vacation Home Rentals. The location shown on the ad map was 7 miles away from the actual location. We had booked 3 nights here, arrived at 2am and realized without a car we would be completely stranded and had to leave first thing the next morning. We chose to book with Vacation Home Rentals because it is more economical than staying at high end resorts, yet this short stay cost us $359 (Amy split the difference of the remaining 2 nights with us). We ended up staying the next 2 nights in 2 different expensive hotels plus the stress of trying to find last minute unplanned accommodation.
Daniela was very upset with her choice. I did everything in my ability including chauffeuring the couple to a hotel in town, comping them one of the 2 nights remaining . When she forgot her earrings in her hast to leave, we delivered them to her hotel 30 mins away. This was a sad situation that a phone call or more research would have prevented. My suite is centrally located to many activities. I have never had anyone visit the Big Island without a car, nor would I ever recommend it.
As for the map, I found out this morning Vacation Home Rentals has improved the map and is now asking for addresses to make sure the distances of lodging are clearly stated.
