Area Info

For an unprecedented 12th year in a row, the readers of Conde Nast Traveler magazine have rated the island of Maui as the best island destination in the world!

And, for the first time, voted "Top Travel Destination in the World" beating Sydney, San Francisco, Florence Italy and all others. Come find out why.

Relax, refresh and rejuvenate on Maui. With Mount Haleakala (House of the Sun), Maui's dormant volcano, as the backdrop; and a white sandy beach at its doorstep, Kamaole Sands is nestled in the beauty that the island of Maui is famous for.

Kamaole Sands was voted "Best Condominium on Maui" at a recent gathering of travel agents. Rendezvous Tours hosted the event in Honolulu where travel agents voted for their favorite destination resort based on client feedback, guest services, and overall quality.

The "town" of Kihei:

Kihei's near-constant sunshine and the fringe of sandy beaches -- some of the loveliest on the island -- along its six-mile-long stretch on Maui's southwest coast continues to attract avid sun-and-sand worshippers. The beaches have incredible views of Lanai and Kahoolawe as well as West Maui. At sunset, the orange orb of the sun seems to hang for a long time over the water before sliding gently into the sea. The breezes off the ocean during the late afternoon and early twilight hours bring a cooling, welcome relief from the heat of the day.

Because it rests in Haleakala's rainshadow, Maui's southeastern shore gets an average of 14 inches of rainfall each year which makes the likeliness of a sunny beach day great. It is the driest, sunniest spot on the island. Couple that with a long, almost continuous line of beautiful beaches with exceptional views of the neighboring islands and Molokini as well as predictably gorgeous sunsets and it is easy to understand why the area is one of Maui's most popular resort destinations.

South Maui, like West Maui is also a frequent visiting place for tourists and kama'aina alike who enjoy the sunny hot weather. The trade winds which bring rain and cooler temperatures to the islands do not directly hit South Maui, creating warmer weather than other parts of the island.

Resort Location:

Just a 15-mile (or 25 minute) drive from the Kahului Airport, Kamaole Sands is located on the sunny southwest coast of Maui. It's situated between the green slopes of Haleakala and the beautiful blue Pacific, just minutes from Wailea. In the heart of Maui s Sun Coast, Kamaole Sands is located across from one of Maui s most famous beaches. The ocean is warm, the surf is gentle the magic of Maui casts its spell.

Resort Amenities::

Kamaole Sands has acres of luxuriant tropical gardens where pathways lead to cool green glades, a winding brook, and private spots for picnics by the fountain pond. The surrounding gardens fill the tradewinds with the scent of tropical flowers.

Steps away from Kamaole Sands guests can stroll along golden beaches and enjoy an ocean full of water sports. Snorkeling, sailing, scuba diving and whale watching adventures await. Shopping and restaurants are walking distance away. Minutes away are five world-class golf courses.

In addition to its optimal location, this lovely resort offers a large swimming pool, sundeck, two jet spas, a wading pool for small children, four free play tennis courts, and outdoor picnic areas equipped with gas BBQ grills. There is a full activities desk and 24-hour front desk on-site. Quiet hours are from 10 pm - 8 am and there is 24 hour security.

Robert -
Your condo was wonderful. My family loved your condo and we will stay there again next time. Except for the first two hours to cool down the condo, we did not use A/C at all. The fans were good enough.
From staying at one room hotel at Oahu, my two boys (19 and 16) loved having to stay at 2-bedroom condo. Also, Kihei location was great. All the stores and restaurants were nearby and the beach was great. It was a great place to bring family. It was better than Lahaina or Kaanapali. We had a wonderful time there. Did not find coolers and boogie boards until Thursday.
You seem to have a nice family. I saw your family picture. Thanks for a wonderful vacation and letting us rent at your place.
Best regards, George C

Hello from Red Deer; we found your unit in Kama'ole Sands to perfect for all our needs. Location and beach were great.
My daughter and grand daughters were thrilled with the boogie boarding and body surfing.
We will certainly recommend this accommodation to our friends.

The condo was perfect for our stay in Maui. Great location to snorkel early in the AM. On the last day we even had dolphins join the snorkelers! It was a perfect way to end our fabulous trip. The boogie boards are still in excellent condition and we used them every day. The condo is located close enough to base our trip to the many different beaches we visited. We were so busy that we did not have time to write in the guest book.....
Thank you for the trip info you sent to us it was very resourceful. We stayed in Hana for one eve and had a good cabin that was furnished to the level of your condo. If any one wants to spend the night in Hana we rented from Hana Maui Travel Co / Waianapanapa Cottage. Hiked a lot in the area and saw many gorgeous waterfalls and plants. Drove all the way around!
Please use us for recommendations in the future. We are all "Maui sick" and want to return.

Just wanted to let you know we had a wonderful time in Maui and thoroughly enjoyed the condo. The location within the complex is so ideal and Kihei is so centrally located on the island the combination is the best. The fact that it was so affordable was also a plus. :-)
It's been great doing business with you. You can be assured that we'll recommend the unit to others.
Thanks again!! Shirley L.

Just wish to take this opportunity to say we appreciated and enjoyed the use of the condo in Maui. It seemed very central to everything we wished to do and see, and it was always nice to come home to at the end of each day's activities.
We will certainly keep you in mind for any future trip to Maui that we may take.
Thanks for everything. Phil D.

Dear Bob,
Just wanted to let you know that we had a wonderful time at your condo -- a very relaxing vacation for all of us. It is always hard to leave the island and head back home and to work. The weather was wonderful the entire stay - we enjoyed relaxing times at the pool, at the beaches, and just being together in a great place.
Wanted to tell you that the box finally arrived the Tues before we departed -- kind of defeated the purpose of sending stuff ahead of time. The post office guaranteed 3-4 days and it ended up being 2 weeks! Just glad I got the stuff.
We'll keep your information for future Maui trips.
Have a wonderful summer and again, thanks for the great place and great rate.
Rick and family
(Ed note - Sadly, Rick found out that even the post office operates on “Maui time” Put aside ANY idea of things happening on time and you will get the idea.)

Bob, just wanted you to know what a great time we had at your condo at Kama'ole Sands! It was a really nice unit--one of the best I've stayed at in Kama'ole Sands. As usual, the weather was great. The only bad part was leaving!

Aloha Bob! Wish we were still in Maui, but glad to have come home to nice MN. Weather! The best thing about your condo is the location! It's so close to sights, the ocean, eating, shopping, etc. We found out that the Fairmont, down the road, was charging $600 a night. So, we know we got a bargain!
Thanks for the great place!! And especially thanks for all of your helpful notes, that you e-mailed me, on where to go for sights and eating. They were REALLY helpful to us!!
Thanks again!! Suzy P.

Hi Bob and Beth,
We had a fabulous time in Kihei; the condos were everything you promised. We particularly enjoyed the 1-bedroom since there were only two of us. Two full bathrooms was a real treat! We found that the long tiled hallway from the entrance of the condo provided a great breeze so that we never had to use the A/C. We definitely want to be repeat visitors, glad that I saw your ad in Hawaii magazine.
Both kitchens provided everything we needed, and it was nice to be able to have breakfast or whatever meals we wanted at the condos. I think we ate at a restaurant three times (twice at Alexander's), but we spent a lot of time at Foodland and Safeway where I was in heaven being able to buy all the local foods that I love and can't find in Michigan.
Thanks again, we definitely enjoyed our stay on Maui and in your condos!

Everything was fantastic at the condo. The kitchen was a blessing for us with 3 kids. The grills that are provided are really nice, we grilled out several times. The grounds at Kama'ole Sands are kept up so nice, and you were right about the air conditioner, I think we only used it for 2 hours the entire week. Your hints on things to do and where to go were great.
Your hospitality, everything from beach towels to a boogie board, made the trip just perfect. If/when we go back to Maui, we will definitely call you. We also appreciate what you did for us on the front end of our trip, and as agreed we will be telling all of our friends about your place.
Thanks again, Bob S.

Hi Robert,
We just got back this afternoon by ferry from Vancouver (OGG to YVR direct on an overnight flight so we're a little bushed what with missing a night's sleep and all). But we had a great holiday, thank you, and really enjoyed our stay at Kama'ole Sands. Your unit is very lovely, well situated, and well equipped, thanks for sharing it with us and at a great price too. Aside from your unit and the great sunsets from your lanai, we especially enjoyed the pool area and tennis courts.
Since you asked for feedback, I can tell you constructively two things... (1) Yes, the ants were still in existence, but knowing about them ahead of time really helped (I had bought a big Rubbermaid tote to put all our dry food in, cereals, chips, etc. and we were very careful not to leave a crumb on the counter so we really didn't have a problem with them). But where they appeared was a surprise, I found them one day in the dishwasher feasting on a tiny sliver of food that had come off of a plate. Hundreds of tiny ants smaller than fruit flies. So having discovered that, we never left dirty dishes again in the washer and that solved that. But what was kind of odd was that the dishwasher door was shut so they must be down in the drains under the floor or in the vent pipe from the ceiling perhaps. It might be helpful to tell people not to leave any unwashed dishes in the machine? Once again, many thanks for a great stay. Mahalo / Steve, Julie and boys.
Steve & Julie M.
(Ed. Note - Future renters - I told you ants are determined! Steve and Julie's advice is good. Rinse all the dishes thoroughly before putting them in the dishwasher. Remember, this is the tropics, not the mainland. No food on the counters. No food in the dishwasher.)

Just a note to let you know we all loved our stay at the condo. The place was very nice. We liked having the washer & dryer. The kitchen had everything we needed. Loved the view front & back, the grounds of the condo were so well kept, beautiful! Great location.

The condo was perfect for us. We had a great time and really, really enjoyed Maui. I could not imagine staying anywhere else other than Kama'ole Sands (at least until I have an empty nest in 20 years or so!) The pool area was very kid friendly and we met many people with children the same age as our own. We liked it so much; we have been researching buying a Maui condo ourselves in a few years. The Maui real estate market has been very hot the past few years. We are considering our first recreational property investment there, but who knows? Maui may not be too far behind.
Anyway, thanks for renting us such a perfect place. Expect to hear from me next year!
All the best, Adam F.

Everything went great! It is so hard to come home from 88 degrees to 6 inches of snow today along with jet lag!!! We find it harder each time to come back. We left a couple of nice boogie boards in the new condo for people to use.
Thanks for the great accommodations again!

Hi Bob and Beth,

Jim and I had a wonderful time in Maui. What a beautiful place to spend our honeymoon. The weather was great and your condo was beautiful. Very neat and clean. Also very nicely decorated. It was also in a great location. The pool area was much enjoyed and the beaches were also very nice. We loved the fact that we could have some meals there but also enjoyed the many wonderful restaurants. It was also very nice that we could enjoy some meals while overlooking the beautiful pool area. Very glad we made this decision and we couldn't have asked for more.

Bob -

We had a great time. Sorry I missed your call today. It has been a whirlwind week at work.

We really enjoyed ourselves. The condo was perfect for us and exactly as you described. We cooked in a couple of nights and used the grills outside. We were at the pool and beach just about everyday. Maui was so much more than we expected. We could have easily spent another week there.

Congratulations on buying the condo next door. Does that make 2 in that complex? (Ed. note - Yes, 5-305 is the 2br/2ba that this family stayed in. And we also recently purchased 5-304 (right next door) which is a 1 br/2ba) Very cool. My father in law enjoyed the condo (that you booked for us) he was in as well. Please thank those owners on our behalf as well.

I would definitely recommend your condo to friends and family.

Thank you again for everything!!

Just returned home (Osaka) a couple days ago. After we vacationed at your place we headed to the Big Island and hit both sides. Wonderful. Kona side is too crowded Hilo was great. Ended our stay at the Hilton Waikoloa Resort. Wonderful.
Ok, back to Maui. It seems to have grown by leaps and bounds in the past two years. But the beaches are still awesome. That's Maui. Your condo was in a great location. Enjoy Kama'ole Beaches the most. The condo pool was great as it now has a kiddy pool. Perfect for our youngest.
Our oldest enjoyed meeting new friends everyday at the pool. Your accommodations were nice. We knew what we could expect thru your internet pics and descriptions. Thanks for that.
It was a great condo. Loved that there were two videos/TV's. Lifesaver with little ones. Beautiful view from the lanai.
Mahalo and enjoy your piece(s) of paradise.

Wow! What a fabulous time we had. We absolutely loved your vacation home and are so happy that we were able to "borrow" it from you! I can't believe how nice it is and how well furnished. The kitchen got plenty of use (loved the anodized pans), as did the equipment out in the lanai closet. We had relatives staying just at the north end of Kihei (at the Maui Sunset) in a 2 BR/2 bath unit and "our" place was so much nicer. Our nearly 4 year old boy learned how to boogie board in the afternoons at Kam3 and his swimming ability improved tremendously in the great pool and wading pool.

Everything was perfect. Perfect weather and great snorkeling and several fun touristy things. All in all, we'd love to rent your condo from you again some day in the future.

We got back late Sun. night and although we have some great summer weather here now we are still trying to shed island mode and get back to our normal lives. So much got packed into our week and yet there was so much more we would have liked to do, another trip.

Your place proved to be a wonderful choice considering distance to all our family wedding events as well as acomfortable for 6 adults. The grounds at your condo are stunning. We hosted a barbecue for our daughter and everyone was impressed with the facilities and the garden. Our daughter even wanted wedding pictures there by the falls on the day of her wedding. The place was clean and cool. We will pass on your no. Jane T
