Lake Leelanau visit

June 29, 2015

The house is very cute and comfy. Our dog loved the yard! Ours is not as long, and we had never seen her run so fast! A few perks were the nearby The Redheads Cafe and the Peddling Beans Coffee House. The scenery, driving from Suttons Bay, is simply amazing! We never knew that there were so many vineyards and wine-tasting places in the immediate area. It was a very nice trip!

Perfect Trip

June 8, 2015

We had a great time. The place was spacious and comfortable for our family and it was the first time in a long time getting most of the family together under one roof. The kitchen was reasonably well-equipped so that we were able to make a big breakfast for everyone, the beds and blankets were comfortable even though it was really cold during our stay, and the fire pit was a great addition. There's a grocery store close by that is small, but sufficient and the place was central to everything we needed. If I could give 4 1/2 I would because there were a few oversights that we weren't totally sure how to handle; laundry soap was out, for example, so we couldn't start the wash. Also, normal hotel-style accouterments weren't available, such as soap, which isn't so much a criticism as a warning.

Great Location

October 1, 2014

We were in Michigan for a nephew's wedding. Activities were scheduled in Sutton's Bay and Leland. The location of this house was perfect - just a short drive to either location! The property is not fancy, but it is roomy and very functional, with all supplies readily available (i.e., linens, kitchen-ware, etc.). With only one bathroom, I was not anxious to share my multiple siblings (we're all 60's and 70's), however, a family with a couple young children will find this house roomy and comfortable.

This home made us feel right at home. The view of the Bay was spectacular, the beds were comfortable, and the location was ideal for us.

Harvest Stompede

September 9, 2014

We enjoyed our stay at your Leland Livin property. We had 3 couples for the 4 bedroom home. The decor of the home was lovely, and short of maybe putting a mirror behind the doors to individual rooms the home was very accommodating. I say this because getting ready would have been much easier had we had more mirrors to apply our make-up, do our hair and such. The only other issue we had was that we did not make it to the home till around midnight and even though we were using our GPS it was still difficult to figure out where the driveway to the property was. I would think about timer lighting or solar lights to help with this. All and all we would come back, we had a great time. Thank you.

up north and loving it

August 15, 2014

The area in the peninsula above Traverse City, MI is a beautiful place to stay. There are any number of day trips to take that will delight people of all ages and interests. Ours happen to be outdoor and shopping related depending on the gender of the family member you ask. The home we chose to stay in had enough bedrooms for everyone, including my daughter's friend that we had invited to join us this year, and a fenced in yard for our dog. The only issues we had with the place were the leaky faucet in the tub and the housecleaning. We immediately let the owner know, as he lives out of state, and he was most appreciative. We have all confidence that were taken care of before the next tenant arrived. All in all it was a delightful week - even the weather cooperated!

Great set up for family vacation

August 7, 2014

This was our first time renting a cottage and we enjoyed it. Owner was great about answering all of my questions through the booking process. We felt very comfortable staying there. It is in good shape but lived in so we did not have to worry about the kids breaking something. Very kid friendly, tons of toys there for them to play with. Really enjoyed having a place with a fenced in yard and the fire pit. Liked that it was stocked with just about everything we needed except for food and drink. It is in a decent but not upscale neighborhood. I felt comfortable with my wife going out for a run in the mornings. Only thing that would have made it better is if it had air conditioning, which I knew that before we booked it and was really shaded so it was not bad. I just like my a/c. Overall a great experience, and for the price you cannot go wrong.

Wonderful winter getaway

January 7, 2014

I stayed here with my husband and our dog for 3 nights in between Christmas and December and had a fabulous time! The house was very cute and there was everything we needed to cook and feel at home. The fenced yard was a plus and our dog loved it! Close to some great wineries and also walkable to the little town of lake leelanau. Perfect house for a couple or small family. We will be back for sure!

Great Family Vacation Home Base!

August 19, 2013

The house is situated on a quiet street in the town of Lake Leelanau and provided a very central location to MANY fun was a short drive to Lake Michigan beaches and the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, just minutes from lake access to Lake Leelanau and not very far from Traverse City, which had even more things to do. We stayed here in early August with our family of 2 younger children aged 4 and 6, myself and my husband. The house is cute, clean and had more than enough space for our family; could have easily fit another couple of people comfortably. The yard is very large and fenced in, very nice for the kids to play in. There is also a small park right across the street that the kids enjoyed. There is cable television and the TV was a nice bigger size. There is also WiFi so we could keep up with emails and stay connected, if we chose. There are toys and a few games and books at the house for most ages and for boys and girls; very much appreciated! There is also nice little grocery store about a block and a half away, in fact most of the "downtown" area/stores are within walking distance. Dave, the owner was very nice and easy to work with too. We definitely want to go back next year!

Cozy and cute

July 30, 2012

This sweet cottage made the perfect "home base" for my family as we explored the Leelanau Peninsula. The decor is charming, with a shabby chic/vintage flair. You will feel like you are staying at a friend's home, not a rental property. The bathroom is newly renovated and very appealing and roomy. There are plenty of fun board games for all ages, and a nice selection of DVDs. The kitchen is well-equipped, so you won't need to pack anything beyond your favorite foods. Everything is very clean and in good working condition. The yard is full of pretty blooms, and quite large, with a nice fire pit and seating area, and there is small deck outside the master bedroom. The cottage is within easy driving distance of so many great little communities (Sutton's Bay, Leland, Cedar, Northport) and, of course, Traverse City. We took daily walks into the village of Lake Leelanau for groceries, coffee, pastries, lunch and antique browsing. The grocery store is just five minutes away and carries pretty much everything you need (including fresh produce, baked goods and a small meat counter), plus an amazing (and surprising) selection of homemade Indian food. We went to the town's farmer's market (Saturdays) and bought some fruit, homemade soap, and jewelry from some local vendors. There are lots of great beaches nearby, in addition to shopping, dining, wineries, dunes, historic attractions, farm stands, museums and so much much more. We rented a pontoon one day and explored Lake Leelanau. Everyone in the community was very friendly, and we never felt like tourists. The owners were very helpful and responded promptly to all questions. It is clear that this is not just a rental property for them, but a labor of love.
