THE MOOSEHEAD CABIN is the perfect place to get-away with friends and family. Nestled on the north shore of a beautiful, quiet lake, with 10 private acres of surrounding meadows, forests, wetlands and beautiful views, you will feel like you are at your own private resort--yet it's only a short 90 minute drive from Seattle.
Our clean, comfortable, and luxurious lodge has everything you need for a relaxing and fun get-away with friends or family. Whether you spend your time inside, or outside, everything is here!
The outdoor hot tub and heated pool are just steps from the front door (the hot tub is heated all year, and the pool is open from May to September). The wrap around deck is the perfect place to watch the eagles sore over the lake, or enjoy outdoor dining around tables that seat up to 12.
A short path through the trees leads to a private 60' dock, with a rowboat, kayaks and a canoe for guests to enjoy on the lake. The kids will have fun on the play structure, at the full size vollyball net, or playing catch in the meadow. At night, gather around the outdoor fire-pit next to the lake for smores under the stars.
On cold days, gather by a roaring fire in the giant stone fireplace (under the moose) to play games, watch a movie, or to read a book. Plenty of all 3 are provided.
Up the road 1/4 mile is one of Washington's best kept secrets...Penrose State Park...with wonderful salt water beaches on Puget Sound, and easy hiking trails through the woods, with spectacular views of Mt. Rainier at the end of the trail.
Lakebay Marina is also down the road, and is the 'happening place' during the summer with beer tastings, ice cream, and paddleboard rentals. It's also a great way to visit by boat, and short term moorage is available.
Come discover our little slice of paradise at THE MOOSEHEAD CABIN.

The house is awesome, with a wraparound deck and view down to the lake, where dear cross in the morning. Lots of space, in and out of the house, which is magnificent We've stayed there three vacations so far, and we will be back. You couldn't find a better spot for family and friends.

We had a house rented near Ft Lewis which fell through, we needed to be close to the base as we were there to visit our grandson who is in the Army. Needless to say we had driven from Missouri and were really tired of staying in hotels. I cannot begin to say how much we enjoyed staying at MooseHead cabin. We were able to relax and also visit with my grandson as a family. The cabin had everything we needed and was beautifully decorated. The view of the lake was great and I actually got to see Eagles. The cabin was close to Gig Harbor which I had always wanted to see, my husband however didn't want to leave the cabin so he stayed while we went exploring. It was about 30 minutes from base but my grandson knew back roads and never complained. I have 2 younger grandsons and know they would love the upstairs bedroom with the bunk beds and also building campfires. I cannot express how clean and fresh this cabin was. I only wish the best for the owners as you can tell they have put their hearts into this and made it into everything you could want for a visit with your soldier.

privacy, quiet, beautiful, pool, hot tub, lake, hammock. kids's play gym, paddle boat, canoe, outside firepit, inside fireplace, and great amenities. So much to do. Great place! We saw a bald eagle while kayaking on the lake. there is a kayak rental place very close by. We roasted marshmellows one night and kept warm with the nice fleece campfire blankets provided. There is a volleyball net set up, also have a ping pong table set up. We stayed for 4 days and wished we would have stayed longer. We played games in the eveningand although there are tvs inall the bedrooms and living room, we didn't even turn them on. The house is really laid outnice with lots of space . Two leather sofas make it nice and comfy for everyone. Oh yes, the dining area has a really big table, so lots of sitting room. kitchen is big enough so that several people can work in rhe kitchen at the same time. the bathrooms have soap and shampoo dispensers. Overhead fans in the bedrooms and living rooms keep the house cool. We had such a blast in the pool, I worried that it would't be warm enough for the 2 babies in our family, but it was just right. ESpen and Jasymn had their very first swim and loved it. Lots of interesting books to read and even some kids toys. This place is a treasure,we want to come back again. The hood canal area is a fantastic vacation area. we we stayed so much to

Wow -- what a fantastic place you have there. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. In fact, in our three days, most of us never left the property (unless you count the middle of the lake). The pool, the fire ring, and play structure were huge hits with the kids. We really felt as though we were being hosted in someone's home instead of just renting a vacation house.

My family and I spent spring break at the cabin. It was great. The kids could run around the property without us checking on them every 5 min. and the view of the lake was so calming. We loved waking up to it every morning. The hot tub was great on the cold nights and movies with the kids by the fire was fun. Well worth the money and the drive.
This has been so wonderfully relaxing for our entire family. All of the comforts of home that I spent hours packing, to the point that our SUV could hold no more, we found provided so kindly for our use during our stay. From the wide variety of CDs, magazines, games, toys, history books, and children's videos to the fully equipped kitchen, we lacked nothing. Even the rain and cloudy skies are beautiful out here, and we enjoyed time reading, playing games, visiting and drawing pictures. I can't remember a time when my kids have played so well and watched so little television. In fact, the only time my husband and I turned on the TV for ourselves was to watch the Mariner game. Thank you for sharing your corner of paradise with us. We enjoyed every minute and can't wait to come back.
We will forever covet the Moosehead Cabin.
Hightlights: The lake, fishing, walks on the beach finding crabs, whiffle ball in the backyard, late-night card games, group meals under Moose-antler lighting, maize-colored paint, cape-cod chairs, branch cabinet holders, sunning on the deck, books and books and books in front of the roaring fire.
From the décor—striped sheets, NW paint selection, lighting magnificence—to the natural beauty, the Moosehead Cabin will be one of our groups all-time favorite spots.
What a great place to meet-up with old friends from the East Coast. We could not have asked for a better stay at Moosehead Cabin. The Schellings have a wonderful Northwest Jewel.
Wow of Wow! We've had such a fantastic time here at your lakeside paradise. We hiked, boated, played games, laughed and relaxed….a lot! It was a much-needed and greatly enjoyed girls weekend retreat. The weather was lovely and your house and all you've set up in it for your guests was even lovelier…We couldn't have asked for a more lovely stay. It's just wonderful.
Thanks so much for sharing your amazing Moosehead Cabin with us. It's wonderful! We were so busy enjoying your amenities, we had no time to read the books we brought along! Also amazing was the gorgeous weather (I think we had one drizzle—the rest of the time was sunny with a tiny breeze)… We did manage to leave Moosehead Cabin long enough to enjoy exploring Penrose Pt. Otherwise, we were held to this place like a magnet.
We really enjoyed our stay here at Moosehead Cabin. We really like boating in the Lake. We found everything in the cabin very comfortable and clean. We had a great time making s'mores in the fireplace. The sun was out most of the time. We would sit outside for hours reading.
We enjoyed our stay immensely. The month went by too fast. So quiet, so relaxing, such great facilities. We have been so inspired that we are even thinking of returning to the area permanently. Who knows? Thanks so much.
