Reviews for this vacation cabin rental in Linden, Virginia
August 23, 2014
Beau Ridge cabin is a gem. Small but beautifully done and comfortable inside. The views from the deck are priceless. It is a little hot late in the day. But gorgeous on the deck in the morning and as the sunsets. Would recommend it to anyone.

WE ARE SUBMITTING THIS REVIEW ONCE AGAIN. PLEASE POST. The "cabin" is populated by cockroaches. It is dirty and falling apart--there is peeling paint everywhere, caulk floating in the 2x2 shower, broken walls with poorly attempted repairs in both bedrooms/ closets, which measure appr. 8x8 each. There is no king size bed as falsely advertised--it is a king size futon, which completely occupies the bedroom/closet. The "bedroom" is dark, with bare walls, and 2 very small windows: 1x2 feet. In the other "bedroom"/closet, there is a full size very basic old bed, which did not have bed sheets on, even though we have paid for sheets and towels. The small living area/kitchen contains cabinets without handles and dirty couches covered with unclean wraps. As soon as we arrived, I lied on the couch to relax and felt something crawling on my head. I few days later, I discovered a well-fed tick on my head. What a horror! As to the views, there are some good views, but you have to look only forward because there are other houses appr. 10 feet to the left and 20 feet to the right. So look only ahead of you for any vistas, unless you'd like to observe the activities on the balcony of your neighbors to the left. There are no "starry nights" as this is an old, small, dilapidated house in a full-blown neighborhood, situated on top of a ridge (like so many neighborhoods). In addition, we asked the landlady to clean the "cabin" and bring bed sheets to no avail. We could not use the only bed available in the "cabin." Even though the place is uninhabitable, according to health standards, and should not be used as in investment property in its current condition, we were willing to pay a reduced rate for our stay. The landlady, through a realtor, promised to reduce the rate and waive the linens fee and the pet fee. Then, they charged the full amount on the credit card we gave them. They have been unreachable since then. We tidied the place as much as possible before we left.
Great for personal retreat!
July 27, 2013
I recently rented this little cabin (yes, it is tiny) for a personal retreat. I was greatly in need of a "get away from it all" vacation and drove 10 hours for this weekend of seclusion. It didn't look like much from the outside, but I was pleasantly surprised by what I found on the inside. It was very well kept, clean and cozy. It had everything I needed to be left alone for the entire weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed the spectacular views of the mountains/city from the back patio. I really did feel like I had left the "big city" life behind. The quiet, peaceful atmosphere gave me an opportunity to relax and be rejuvenated. I would recommend it for rental, but not for more than 2 people. Also, the management staff was available to take care whatever I needed. Thanks so much for your professionalism!

A week's retreat with great views.

My wife and I stayed at the “Beau Ridge Cabin” for a week in June primarily so we could wind down from our trip to our daughters in Pennsylvania and to attend our grandson’s graduation; to be close to our son and his family who live in the area and so we could see our daughter and her family in Annapolis the weekend following our stay. The cabin is quaint, basic and in a very nice setting. We enjoyed our stay particularly the sunsets which were magnificent and having a place to have our family visit. David and Irene, June 2013.
Great views, comfortable and clean

Good welcome back from property manager with detailed directions. Folder contained complimentary wine tasting vouchers of which we used two. Cabin as described on web-site so no surprises apart from the overwhelming odour of Glade cinnamon air fresheners as we entered, and loads of stink bugs. (These two minor downsides may be related!) Able to unplug fresheners and leave outside , and there were instructions ad a plastic bottle device for catching the bugs. Wonderful views from balcony. Birdsong each evening (and a love-sick bull-frog in neighbours pond!) and five deer wandered through at dusk. Clean sheets, towels and crockery, comfy beds. Very peaceful, though there was no one in house nex door whilst we were there - may not have made any difference - plenty of space all around. Large gas barbeque on balcony but didn't use it. Picnic table on balcony and chairs were enough ad a good kitchen. A lovely stay, woul rcommend.

The weekend away with another couple was perfect, toured the country side, relaxed and visited multiple vineyards in the area. We arrived at night so it was difficult to find, bit the owner graciously walked me through the directions as i drove on the phone. Everything wen t smooth and we really enjoyed the relaxing weekend away. We are in our late 20's early 30's and this place worked great for our needs.

Great place but...

The cabin is in a lovely quiet location. Has good kitchen outfit and is warm and has a great feel. We let our daughter choose her bedroom and ended upin a bed that needed a new mattress. We could not sleep rolled in on topof each other and were miserable. We swapped rooms the next night but for the money paid a bad mattress is not up to scratch.

We thourougly enjoyed our stay. Everything was very cosy and clean, the view from the deck is very nice. Definitely enjoyed the sunset. Fireplace added to the overal charm. Only concern is that we smelled the exhaust from the burning fireplace a bit too strong for just a smell of a burning wood. Turning on the fan helped a bit. One may be surprised by the size of the bathroom and shawer compartment.

Cozy cabin with amazing view

My sister and I loved this place! We hated to leave! It was clean, well-maintained, and has all the kitchen equipment you could want. The bedding and bath towels were of good quality. The cabin is small but so comfortable! We spent little time inside anyway, with such a beautiful view and all kinds of wildlife to be seen from the deck. It's only short drive to get down off the mountain on great roads. You can be in Front Royal in about 20 minutes and another 5 min. to the entrance of the Park. There are many wineries within a 30-45 min. drive or less. It was only an hour's drive to Fairfax where we caught the Metro to go into Washington DC for the day. The neighborhood where the cabin is located is very quiet and beautifully rural. If you plan to use the WI-FI connection, be sure you get the pass phrase before you go, as it was not supplied automatically. We had to ask. Also the WI-FI has a weak signal (slow) and it is on an unsecure network, so we had to restrict some computer activities. We only turned the TV on once during the week, but had problems with that, because we could not find a channel guide or instructions on which remote operates which piece of equipment anywhere in the cabin. In spite of these couple of technical difficulties, we had a wonderful time and would definitely rent this cabin again, if we are back in northern Virginia!
Thank you for your review and we're glad you'd come back to stay!
As for the Wi-Fi connection, your arrival followed the "storm of the century" in the Shenandoah Valley area with major power outages and such. The network for Beau Ridge was clearly effected, as it is a secure network, hence the password issue you reported during your stay. We have had our I.T. folks check it out and address the reset and such for future guests to have the best experience possible at this mountain Cabin.

I loved the quiet, the hot tub and the short walk to the lake and "babbling" brook. The tree top view was breathtaking. The problem with the combination lock was quickly resolved by asking a neighbor for help and the owner promptly responded to my call. A great get away!
very cozy - even when there's no electricity!

The cabin was clean, comfortable, and well furnished. Unfortunately, we happened to stay here during the freak October snowfall. We lost power twice for approximately six hours each time - this is NOT a function of the cabin, just mother nature. Since we were essentially stranded due to road conditions and our car's abilities, we kept warm by the fire and enjoyed the incredible view. The property manager and neighbor were very helpful and made sure we were as comfortable as possible given the circumstances. We hope to go back! Next time we'll be sure to bring all the food and water we might need just in case.
Only thing it's missing is a hot tub

Two of us stayed at the Beau Ridge Cabin in October this year for a weekend, and it was a great little place. It is very small, but very cozy for a couple (4 adults would work, but it would be tight). It has a great fireplace, a stunning view, a functional kitchen, and comfy couches for curling up on and watching a movie. The location is within 5 minutes of wineries and within about 20 minutes of Shenandoah park. The cabin is clean and pretty well-appointed with towels, bedding, and kitchen supplies. The cabin is not isolated--you can see your neighbors, but it's quiet and easy to find.

The cabin was quaint, basic, very clean, in a lovely setting, great view. The wood burning fireplace made for great evenings after a long hike and trips to the wineries. Definitely would return to this cabin.

Perfect getaway for two!
October 20, 2010
The Mountain Top Cabin is the perfect getaway for a couple (or two). The place is quaint and clean and the view is spectacular. The location is in close proximity to wineries, orchards, Skyline Drive, and the town of Front Royal. We highly recommend this place!

If the weather was a little better this would have the perfect stay. The place was very clean and she we could see through the fog it had a great view. Thank you so much.
We had a wonderful time! Enjoyed 4 wineries, have a nice supply! Snowed and iced Friday night and Sunday before we left. (no worries) We unpluged from our busy lives and RELAXED. Thanks again, Leigh and Mark 01/21/2012
