Lighthouse View! Sitting right on the pink granite ledge and cobble beach at the edge of the sea (ten paces puts you at the surf) is this charming, 2- story seaside cottage. Eagles feed on the rocks at dawn; blue heron fly in under the evening mist; lobster boats tend their traps...
A perfect place to relax. The house was comfortable and clean and has a great feel to it. The rocks on the water provide front row seats to view great blue herons, osprey, eagles, loons and a seal pup. It's a short walk to a sand beach. Schoodic Peninsula and Acadia National Park are truly beautiful, and it seemed like we had it all to ourselves. The people in Corea are so friendly. We didn't have enough time to do all we wanted, so we'll be back! Thanks for many fond memories!
Quaint family owned efficiency rustic cabin in West Gouldsboro on the Schoodic Peninsula in Downeast Maine. It is located on a quiet cove of Jones Pond, a 467 acre pond suitable for boating, swimming & fishing. Explore the pond in a canoe or rowboat or sit upon kayaks provided for...
Living in Anne Osborne's rental home is an excellent alternative to
the motels and B&Bs we have used during previous visits to the
northeastern coast of Maine. Tugwassa was formerly her own family's
cottage and it still has the feel of a nicely lived in home,
comfortable beds, a kitchen with modern appliances and dinnerware, an
iron stove to take off the morning chill, bookshelves filled with
volumes about local lore and the world beyond, and views of the pond
from nearly every window. The pond itself is home to fish, birds, the
occasional bald eagle, and a moose that clambered along the shore in
full view from the living room. Since there is only a scattering of
homes around this large pond, we quickly felt it was our pond where we
paddled kayaks all by ourselves. A short drive away is Winter Harbor
with a grocery store, a Five and Dime hardware, delicious ice cream
across the street, and catch-of-the-day seafood at Fisherman's Inn. A
private boat tour from Winter Harbor with Cap'n Wesley Shaw opens out
the mountains and forests of Acadia National Park. Just beyond Winter
Harbor on Route 186 is the entrance to the less frequently visited
section of Acadia called Schoodic Penninsula where you can walk over
granite ledges and face up to the Atlantic. Then take Rt. 186 beyond
to Corea's iconic harbor and eat the freshest lobster roll on a
lobsterman's narrow wharf. A longer drive to Mount Desert Island
offers the larger expanse of the National Park where you can swim in
the warmish water at Sand Beach, tour the park road along the
shoreline, and hike the Rockefeller carriage roads. All very worth
while despite the congestion. Returning to Tugwassa made us grateful
for living there as though it was, for a while, a home of our own.
On its own 8 acre point with 1/4 mi. of classic rocky Maine shore front with ocean views from three sides of the house gives complete privacy, quiet and plenty to explore!

My family of 6 stayed here a week in July and made it our HQ for our Maine adventures. It is the PERFECT place! It is beautiful and the pictures do not do it justice. It's location to the water (surrounded on 3 sides) makes every time of the day a painting. The kids played in the tide pools and found all sizes and shapes of hermit crabs, jelly fish, mussels/clams and even a starfish! Didn't really even need to leave the house as there was so much to take in. Because of how beautiful and relaxing it is at the house, my family actually spent the evenings talking and playing games together--something that we don't get the chance to do at home very often, especially with teenagers. Priceless time spent. Thank you, Kim, for being so great to work with and letting us experience Baypoint! The bedrooms and bathrooms were perfect for a large family and the wood work and amenities at the house were more than we could ask for. This stay was TRULY a vacation we will not forget. Thanks again and we most certainly would recommend this place to others and would definitely stay here a again.

My darling mother-in-law braved the airlines from Chicago and the12 hour road trip from Pennsylvania to find herself falling asleep to the crashing waves of Sand Cove. Since 1990, my wife and I vacationed in Acadia seven times and spent four of them in Schoodic. This time we splurged with Pammie and reaped the rewards. A well appointed comfy house with Tempurpedic mattresses, BIG screen TV, WiFi, and a Viking in the kitchen. Many upgrades include the modern fully equipped kitchen, a handy mud room, and pleasant decorative items all around (including a document of appropriate medicinal treatment in the loo). No need to find a pool hall or bring the mountain bike and Frenchman's Bay Conservancy privides plenty of day hikes in the area. Its a digital photographer's dream in the back yard with hummingbirds, eiders, and the sunrise and all the family photos to capture the memory.
