My daughter got married in Rumford but we rented the Merrill House from Wednesday to Sunday and had daily activities. It slept all our family, it was so nice to be detached from the world for awhile. No Tv and little reception was just what the doctor ordered. Fires in the Great Room Every night with the whole family was stupendous!!! Bert and Becky were awesome and very knowledgeable of the house and the area history!!! We will have amazing memories for the rest of our life from this house, we cried we didn't want to leave. Thank You for renting your loving summer home to us!!!
At the very end of the trail, perched high on a private 70 acre ridge, surrounded by thousands of acres of woods, streams, trails...
Skyline Dr. turns right just before rugged Sawyer Notch... The road winds upward through the beech and birch forest, onto the ridge top. Another...
This was a great little get away up in the mountains of Maine. We stayed in the Winona Cabin which was awesome. The place was clean and had everything we needed to have fun for a few days. The hosts were great and very helpful. There isn't a great amount of things to do within hiking distance, but why would you want to leave when everything you are looking for is right in front of you? We would highly recommend this place to anyone trying to get away from the busy life and relax in the shadows of the mountains.
Cute little off- grid timber frame surrounded by thousands of acres of woods, streams & trails; perched on a hardwood ridge with panoramic views of the valley, 70 acres of privacy. Everything is sparkling new at Moose Mountain Cottage on Skyline Ridge; the cabin is fully equipped...
This was one of the most, if not THE MOST, relaxing getaways my fiance and I have ever experienced. We happened to be there during the first really cold days of fall and my fiance hurt her foot a week before and was running a marathon at the end of the month so we were limited on our exploring but it was still an amazing stay. It is the perfect size and then some for a couple and a dog, even one that weighs about 90 pounds. The view is amazing even with no leaves on the trees. Heck, this may even make it better. The huge deck is amazing and would be even during cooler temperatures. All we needed was food, adult beverages, and coffee and I think pretty much everything else was there for us. I am a teacher and my other half a product/graphic designer. This forced us to unplug for the weekend and live life the way it should be...without worrying about work and what needs to be done the next day. Completely silent at night. No humming or buzzing of electricity flowing through the building. I went back to work feeling completely mentally refreshed. And I am not exaggerating. Definitely a place we will keep going back to in years to come. This has also pushed us in the direction of constructing an off-grid tiny house.
One of the best parts is the wood stove because it reminded us of our childhood growing up in rural Pennsylvania. Our pup, Cooper, had the time of his life. Not only was this because of his love for the outdoors, but also the fact that he LOVES antlers and a nice moose antler was the perfect treat! He enjoys gnawing on it to this day(6/7/15) and we will be sure to purchase more and also some of the awesome artwork on our NEXT visit!
The owners seem like the type of people you hope to meet everyday of your life. Brenda was very friendly and willing to answer any questions we had while on our visit.
Time passed and we forgot to write a review and then considered booking again and realized we failed to provide the owners with a much deserved review and they certainly deserve a GREAT one.
THANKS A TON for a great stay!
