Look for a better option

8/2013-17 people. Pros: Having direct beach access across the street and the lagoon in your backyard is as good as it gets. It’s a private community with a guard gate and no traffic. The balcony was a favorite spot, a perfect place for a morning cup of coffee and for watching the sunset. The pool is large. The dock was great for fishing and sitting on the double swing. Kitchen: The island is enormous and had plenty of room. The 2 refrigerators and separate ice maker came in handy. Dinner table sat 10 comfortably. There were enough dishes and utensils. Cons: The attic and basement bedrooms were not usable due to a mildew smell and general dampness. This eliminated 25% of the advertised sleeping areas. One family was forced to double up in a room. The basement room feels more like a dungeon and there’s no closet to hang up clothes. The floor was continually damp. One of the kids slipped on it and cut their foot. The ceiling fan in the master is on a remote, but there was none. Cleanliness: The kitchen was filthy. The cabinets, countertops and appliances all had to be cleaned, by us before use. The shower in the master was full of mildew. We had to call the rental company to come out and clean it. Many of the surfaces were covered in a thick layer of dust. The media room is not fully functioning. We were never able to get the Wii to work. The DVD player didn’t work. The IT person came to the house and admitted that the equipment has had issues for awhile. Many of the input ports no longer function. The A/C in the house is very uneven. One room would be freezing and the other hot. We did the best we could to open/close vents and made it work, but it was still not where it should have been. One of the microwaves doesn’t work. The convection oven wouldn’t function due to the door not fully closing. There’s no TV by the pool even though one is depicted in the property photos. There are a lot of nice fireplaces in the pictures, but you aren’t allowed to use any of them. The ping pong table is dilapidated. The air hockey table had no puck. All of the darts for the dart board were broken. The house is showing its age due to a lack of upkeep. There are light fixtures falling out, exposed wires, fascia board decay, and non-functioning or locking garage doors. One site lists a mini fridge on the pier, there isn’t one. Overall, I would not rent this house again. Considering the price, look for a better option.
