Beautiful and serene
September 8, 2015
I stayed for a week at the fabulous Barn on the Pond with a bunch of friends, and loved every minute.
The Barn on the Pond is conveniently located - a short and scenic drive into Woodstock, where you can find some good stores, restaurants, weekend flea market and a river with beautiful water holes to swim in.
Tripp the owner is great: polite, funny, extremely accommodating and goes beyond the call of duty.
The place was clean, comfortable, beautifully designed, luxurious, grand, bohemian and posh.
The kitchen made me love cooking (which I usually detest)! For a couple of nights, and a morning (when it was my turn to cook) I was Gordon Ramsey (with only a fraction of the swearing).
The Barn and the grounds are huge with different nooks and crannies to hang out in - one night we roasted marshmallows on the bonfire in the garden, the next night we laid around on sofas on the upstairs balcony eating posh pizza and wine with an open fire burning in the hearth, other nights we celebrated with home cooked meals at the long dining table. We had lazy afternoons chatting peacefully, swinging slowly on the giant dream catcher swing looking up at the Dr. Seuss trees, then cooled off by dangling our feet into the cool water of the pond watching frogs, listening to the sound of birds singing and crickets buzzing. So beautiful. It was like Christopher Robin had grown up to be Gatsby and was hanging out by the pond with good friends.
It's the kind of place that nurtures life long memories. I will always recommend this wonderful place to friends and family, and I look forward to staying here next summer. Staying here is everything summer should be; It's an idyllic paradise.
