LOVE THE OCEAN WALKS!

June 22, 2015

We had a wonderful three days at this cabin in the woods above the beach. I don't know how the swimming is since I didn't swim on this trip, but we did see three teenagers surfing one day and boogie boarding the next day. We also saw several fishermen (wearing waders) in the water. Some days we were the only people on the beach. One day we saw a bald eagle perched on the big rock. It was low tide so we could walk right up to the rock. We might have been only 40 feet away. He (she?) was magnificent. I have never been that close to a bald eagle that wasn't flying. The other lovely thing is the deck and the wall of windows in the living room and main bedroom, so even when you are not at the beach you can see and hear and smell the ocean, while you have coffee or dinner or just sit out there reading. The stars are also amazing. We had a string of sunny days and clear nights. I don't know how common that is but we loved it. You can walk for miles. We typically walked for 2 hours in the morning and two hours in the evening, but you could walk much farther if you wanted to. There is a big screen tv that has a really fun variety of music stations - jazz, indie, blues, folk, classical, rock, country - whatever you like. One day we spent four hours listening to music while reading/ sketching , looking at the ocean, breathing the fresh air. If you like to cook there is a full kitchen with an oven and nice big fridge so you could bring groceries in for a family of six for a week and never have to go back out. I love camping but not everyone does. This was the best of both -- living in the elements as much as you want -- just step through the sliding door and you are there, surrounded by views and sounds and smells of forest and beach, or walk through the forest (I think it took us ten minutes on a wide driveway, until the end when we were on a sandy path) and you are at the beach. But if it is raining or windy -- step back in and you can hear and see and smell the wonderful air from the comfort of your living room, with a toasty fire if you want. I loved this place.

Amazing!

October 27, 2014

This wasn't our first trip to Ocean Shores but it's defiantly one we wont forget! I'm so glad that I stumbled upon this beautiful cabin. I was planning a trip for my boyfriend's birthday and originally was just going to look into getting a hotel. From now on whenever we visit Ocean Shores this will be the place we stay. I wish we could've stayed longer but the time we did stay made a big impression. The views from the place are absolutely amazing. Being able to get up in the morning, make a pot of coffee and then just sit on the deck and just listen to nothing but the ocean was absolutely peaceful.

The house called Honahlee

August 13, 2014

My three teenage kids and I spent the weekend here and from the moment we went thru the gate we knew we were in love. It's a adorable little cabin with plenty of room for us all. The view of the ocean was amazing and the walk down to the beach wasn't bad at all. The walk back up the hill for me was a bit harder but I'm a bit out of shape. The furniture was comfy as long as you don't try to recline in the recliner ( barely got it closed again) and the beds put us all blissfully to sleep each night. Can't wait to go back for a longer stay

Really like this place. Secluded, but close to Ocean Shores. Watched 3 eagles hunting for fish from the living room window. You can see the ocean from kitchen, living room and bedroom! Cool path to beach, great deck. We loved it. Would recommend a swiffer duster for the cleaning crew, and nice if they would vacuum the couch, under cushions like you'd do at home...other than that s'all good. Recommend it.

Lovely and comfortable

November 6, 2013

The cabin was situated with a lovely view of the beach and ocean. The owner supplied all amenities to make us comfortable. Our only complaint concerned the cleanliness: ie., there was some debris on the carpet, dust on the furniture and floor heaters, the front windows needed Windex, and the dishwasher had not been emptied. I'm wondering whether the owner is aware that the cleaning fee is not sufficient to do the job or the house cleaner is not thorough. The bed linens were clean and the bath was supplied with plenty of towels. The neighborhood was very tired (empty) and that suited us. Good tv and VCR. We enjoyed our vacation very, very much.

Memorial Day rain

June 4, 2013

Property was cozy and clean and had everything we needed. Wasn't too far down to the beach, and good exercise anyways. We spent 3 nights, and the board games helped as it rained pretty heavily for most of the trip. The only down side was the hide-a-bed. It was kinda sketchy as the corners were detached on the mattress frame, so it was easier to just sleep on the couch itself (or on the floor) if you had a group larger than 4 people. The wood burning stove was nice (with plenty of stocked firewood), and kept the place quite warm. Satellite TV worked fine, and we watched at least one DVD movie that we brought. At least Sunday was semi-dry so we were able to walk the beach on one of the days. The wind was still fairly strong so we didn't see any plane landings, but we did see a couple of bald eagles. We had a great time despite the weather and would consider renting this property again (maybe on a sunny weekend next time)! :-)

Great, I'd do it again

Perfect for the seeker of peace and quiet after every day chaos. The cabin was great, the beach was great---the climb between the two was....well okay except for seniors and disabled---but not impossible for me (I'm a senior), a small challenge.

River Tide

Owner's reply:

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay! If it makes you feel any better, I am not a senior and find that climb a bit challenging myself!

GREAT Ocean view

October 18, 2011

Driving up to the place your not sure you made the right choice. But once you go inside the gate and step up on the deck and then see the view... WOW... Once you go inside its an older place well maintained and nice rustic feel, clean. smaller bathroom, very nice size master bedroom, and second bedroom is a good size also. The walk down to the beach is on a nice road way going into a path to gain access to this almost private beach feel. First time we went there there was NO ONE else around as far as the eye could see. When you head back up to the cabin, its a little steep of a climb but not that far. I feel that this was worth the price of admission. Enjoy

A great weekend getaway

May 17, 2011

This was a perfect place for my girlfreind and I to spend a quiet romantic weekend together. Cozy accommodations, wood burning stove, a deck view of the Pacific ocean, and only a short walk to the beach - all within a 2 hour drive from home. We had a wonderful time and will definitely come back again.

Great get away!

August 9, 2010

The house was in a great secluded area and had everything one needed to spend time there. There was a beautiful view of the ocean from the deck but the walk to the beach was a bit longer than anticipated. So we drove. :) Thank you for sharing your home with us Rachel. We had a great time and we will recommend your home to others.

Alone with nature

August 5, 2009

An excellent location, superb view and well equipped cabin made for the best vacation experience in many years. In July, peak summer vacation time, vacations are often both very crowded and hot. Here the beach was often all ours as far as we could see; morning mists kept us cool, and the fireplace was cosy in the evenings. We read, poked around in tide pools and slept as long as we liked. Highly recommended!

Cozy and peaceful

This is a very family friendly home. We built fires in the evening and played board games. We loved the beach and the sand bar went out really far and we collected lots of sand dollars and other treasures! We would come back in a heart beat.

Nice quiet getaway

October 16, 2007

We stayed her for several days in July, 2007. The cabin was pleasantly rustic with plenty of modern features, such as TV/DVD/VCR and stereo. We had trouble using the satellite TV but didn't matter for vacation. Nicely stocked with games and beach toys. Close to beach although the return hill climb may be steep for seniors or those with disabilities. We liked that it was close to many other area beaches, including Ocean Shores to the south, but a quiet retreat in a private setting. A nice getaway for families, a single couple or whatever.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How big is the cabin?
A: It is approximate 850 square feet. One bedroom is much larger than the other. There is a fold out sofa but it's probably most suitable for kids. 6 adults in the cabin would probably a little cramped.
Q: How far is the beach?
A: The beach is about 1/3 mile downhill on the road. The hill is fairly steep and may be difficult for those with physical challenges. Unfortunately, there is no parking available at the bottom of the hill.
Q: Are pets allowed?
A: Unfortunately, not at this time. Our insurer does not allow them on the property at all.
