Description of the Playa Zancudo vacation cabin rental
Located on a beautiful private 1.5 acre palm covered lot with 300 feet of private beachfront, it commands stunning views of the ocean both from the large patio and top floor bedroom. Only a 30 minute boat ride from the picturesque port town of Golfito, this deluxe beach house with mahogany wood floors, full kitchen and huge deck with relaxing hammocks offers a special vacation for you and your family in the tropics. We even have Wi-Fi for your convenience and a boogy board for fun on the waves. All windows and doors have mosquito screens and all rooms have ceiling fans, but since it is only 50 meters from the beach, the sea breezes always offer coolness to the air.
The best restaurant and bar, Sol y Mar, is only five minutes walking away, while a supermarket is 20 minutes walking. A truck full of fresh vegetables and fruits also can come to the house twice a week.
Our property manager lives next door and is very helpful in making arrangements for transportation, settling in, and answering any questions that our guests may have.
Area Information
Our cabin, called the Resting Dragon, is situated in Zancudo, on the Pacific coast of the southern tip of Costa Rica.

Zancudo is a small community of 300 Costa Ricans, and a handful of "laid-back" foreigners. We all flourish on fishing, and a small tourist industry. The area was originally settled by boat builders of the long dug-outs carved from jungle trees, and by pig farmers that found plenty of feed from the bananas that would wash up onto the beach from the old banana company lands up the nearby river.

Now Playa Zancudo offers small beachfront hotels, great restaurants, jungle tours, surfing, safe swimming, and world class sportfishing and fly fishing.

This unique and undeveloped area is located far south, on the Pacific side of Costa Rica. We are about six miles by boat from Golfito, and eight miles by boat from Puerto Jimenez. Most of our guests fly into Golfito, to arrive here in a taxi boat, and others drive in rental cars. The bus is another way to arrive, or even a private taxi right to your cabin door. Many of our guests come here to relax after visiting the Corcovado National Park on the Osa Peninsula, and we pick them up in Puerto Jimenez in our taxi boat. We can help you choose the most comfortable arrival for you trip.

All our guests love this quiet and safe beach and our beachfront accommodation, and often want to extend their visit. Our cabin is right on the beach, facing westerly, with a sunset view over the Osa Peninsula. Many come to read in the hammocks overlooking the ocean, or walk for hours along the long empty beach that stretches 12 miles from the point of the Zancudo Peninsula, south to Pavones, home of the longest left breaking wave.

Many others come for the plentiful water sports.

Private, charming, relaxing!

April 7, 2014

I highly recommend this cabin. Karla has created a place of solitude and peace where you can take time off the beaten path and enjoy nature. A black sand beach is right out the back door, and you can fall asleep to the waves crashing onto the beach and wake up to the monkeys in the trees. The cabin is on two lots and it is possible to have complete privacy for days on end. The best part is the bedroom that offers a panoramic view of the trees with a porch that overlooks the ocean (hammock!). It was possible to arrange rides to the grocery store to stock up on food, and there are several restaurants around. There is a washing machine and a basic kitchen and plenty of hammocks to swing in!

little slice of paradise

June 3, 2012

The cabin was well-maintained, clean and so very charming. Only thing we would have added was a mosquito net over the bed because the little suckers were pretty bad when we were there. Most days we had the beach to ourselves. Found friendly folks and tasty food in town. It's an ideal spot for a couple wanting to get away from it all.

Owner's reply:

Thanks for your kind review and so happy your enjoyed your stay in our very special cabin. Sorry about the mosquitoes. Usually there is no problem since all the windows have mosquito netting and the ceiling fan above the bed keeps the mosquitoes away.

Incredible Sunsets

March 21, 2009

I had to write a 2nd review because my last one did not give the positives of the cabin itself. It is located on its own private beach with incredible sunsets. The cabin has a little kitchen, a nice porch and a great little bedroom space with another porch. Everything was so peaceful and we even saw a family of monkeys living just across the street.

great beach front place

September 18, 2008

My husband and I stayed there during the rainy season. The main challange was the area because we did not have a vehicle and many restaurants were closed. Other than that, the house was comfortable and just a few steps to the ocean. Awesome!

Perfect little house

January 12, 2008

This is the perfect little beach house for 2 people. The house is lovely and airy, with lots of light, breezes off the water and the sounds of surf crashing. Our private beach was a few steps away and we saw very few people there. The kitchen is well equipped, and the house is a short walk to other businesses, restaurants, and the grocery store. We loved it.

Owner's reply:

Hi Judy
It has been a while since you stayed in Zancudo. Your little cabin misses you...
All the best
