If you don't have a boat & would like to spend time on the lake, you can enjoy a pleasant ride aboard the Princess which leaves the Marina around 1:15 PM for 2.5 hour ride on the lake. Check the dates & hours of operation for the many dinner cruises. Relax and enjoy the open air 2nd floor or sit in the climate controlled 1st floor. You can rent pontoon boats and spend an enjoyable day out on the lake with friends and family by calling Seven Points Marina to reserve a boat. For your own boat you can rent a slip by the day or week while on your vacation. Charter one of the many fishing guides for a few hours or go on a midnight outing to catch some of the many fish in the lake.
Our Bears Den cabin is surrounded with trees on a secluded mature landscaped acre lot. There is enough parking for a few cars. One of our repeat vacationers to the cabin loves to fish & was enjoying fishing in a quiet cove when he had an eagle perch right above their boat, so keep your eyes open you might even get to see a bear swimming in the lake, two have been caught on camera over the years.

even better than we imagined

We rented this house for 3 days on the way home from Virginia Beach. There were 2 families (9 total). Plenty of room for all of us. The house looks brand new!! Definitely doesn't resemble a rental, and it is decorated beautifully with a bear theme and lots of attention to detail. Hardwood floors are beautiful Large open kitchen and living room. The finished cellar is awesome played a lot of ping pong and pool with the kids. There is even a card table cover you can use too. The bed in the master bedroom was so comfortable my wife and I decided we need a new mattress. There is a nice private yard and a fairly short walk to a cove on Raystown Lake that you can fish or swim from. Unfortunately we didnt get to meet the owners but Doris and Bill were very prompt on returning my emails when I had questions before we arrived. There are 3 bedrooms 21/2 baths and the kitchen is fully stocked with all the cooking needs you could imaging. They even have a Weber grill. I think the price is fantastic for all you get. If we are ever in the area again I wouldnt look anywhere else to stay.

Our week was wonderful!!! Bear's Den was absolutely beautiful inside and out with everything you need. We spent the week and boating everyday. Relaxing in the evenings around the fire pit and playing pool. The screened in back porch was perfect way to start your day and end your evening. Looking forward to next year!!!!!
A Great Spot

Walk to the lake, ride the Allegrippis trails, and sit by the fire pit. It doesn't get much better than the Bears Den

We recently stayed at Bears Den with 2 other couples for a getaway weekend. This home was absolutely beautiful and spotless! The home was equipped with everything and anything that you would have in your own home. I especially loved the window above the fireplace that allowed the sun shine through out the kitchen and living room...no need for lights until the sunset. I think maybe we were the first visitors to see snow in the area our first day there. It melted right away, but was quite amusing watching our husbands build a fire in the firepit as the snow pelted down. Bears Den is definately a place where you can relax in any part of the home. While we didn't observe any live wildlife, the home is filled with lovely décor that gives you the rustic feeling true to the name Bears Den. Bill and Doris are wonderful to work with and very helpful with anything you need to know about their home and the area itself. We are already planning on a return in the spring or summer before the marina closes for the season to enjoyed the use of the lake. All in all, even though it was off season, the brisk mountain air and comforts of home made it a fabulous stay! We played a lot of poker and enjoyed lots of country music in the evenings and can not wait to visit Bears Den again. Thank you Bill and Doris, everything was above and beyond our expectations!
Bill & I are delighted that you and your friends enjoyed your first stay at the cabin. I understand all three couples have been to the area before over many years and it is so good to know even in the cool weather it is a place to return to again and again. We look forward to hearing from you for your next stay to the Raystown Lake Region..

Family Lovin' at the Bears Den
October 15, 2014
After researching the area rentals for 5 hours I finally settled on the Bears Den ... so glad I did. We were a group of 8 (youngsters and oldsters) ... the "cabin" (much more like a home) was awesome. We had more than enough room with 3 bedrooms, a large living room, large and well equipped kitchen, ample bathrooms, very large rec room/tv room on the ground floor, fire pit in the backyard. I sipped many a cuppa of coffee in the screened-in porch. Lovely to sit there very early in the morning with that coffee and listen to the birds, watch for the sky to lighten, look for mountain critters, and just mellow out. Will definitely rent again next fall, but this time for longer than a weekend. It was so hard to leave that place. None of us wanted to go back to the daily grind after enjoying our time there. Also, there is much to do in the area. And to that end there are loads of brochures, maps, area attractions, restaurants, etc to browse through. In addition ... the owners of the cabin were wonderful to us. Thank you, D. You're a doll!
Thank you for the wonderful review! We are very happy you chose to stay at our home away from home. I loved the questions your granddaughters had for us before your arrival and hope you can stay again only longer. My rock garden needs a few more stones signed.

This place is so beautiful! We loved our long weekend here! The pool/ping pong table kept the kids content while we soaked up the serenity of the surrounding nature. The house is well-equipped with all the comforts of home to help take the hassle out of packing. Do yourself a favor and enjoy a trip to this cabin rented by very hospitable people!

The Bear's Den is gorgeous, inside and out. We have stayed here with extended family and with three small families. It's great for kids, an easy drive to all the attractions in Raystown, and a peaceful place to stay. The kitchen and living area fill with natural sunlight, and the screened porch is a great place to dine or read. The owners are wonderful hosts, as evident by the thought they have put into furnishings, decor, and supplies. (Each time I visit I notice something they owners have added to the kitchen supplies. You will not find yourself thinking "Darn, this place needs X." They even thoughtfully provide a spare propane tank for the grill! Meal preparation is a pleasure, as a result. We love Bear's Den!

You will love the Bears Den and will want to go back again and again. It's perfect for a romantic weekend, girls' getaway, or guys' fishing trip. Lots of room! Love it!
There has never been a place we stayed that felt like home but this cabin is the exception. It is home away from home. We love coming here each year and making new memories. This year we spent a full week verses a long weekend. We spent time up in State College/Penns Cave and a day hiking at Trough Creek. We spent a lot of time down at the lake at the end of the road. The Shanks are wonderful people and always so friendly and helpful. We couldn't imagine staying anywhere else. Thanks for another wonderful visit!

Your cabin is so cute and all I can say, you call it a cabin but it's not like any cabin we've ever been in. "So much better". We loved everything about the cabin. Well supplied, beautiful decorations and very clean. We had a wonderful time and want to say thank you for sharing your place.
We had the best vacation in years. So much relaxing and food. My kids had a blast swimming, fishing, tubing, skiing,. Absolutely love the screened in porch. Thank you for sharing your home with us. My parents were so happy for the extra family time. Hopefully we will be back soon!
