Beautiful house in Salvador

January 16, 2013

The house we rented in Salvador was very well located, close to everything, beaches, cafes, restaurants, stores, and an ecological reserve. The garden was in good condition and the pool was maintained during the stay. It is a very beautiful house but we encountered few problems. Mainly in the kitchen, pots, pans and accessories are very old, broken and unsafe to use. For example, the portable BBQ is unusable being completely rusted and you would not dare to touch it in fears it's going to fall apart. The curtains, mosquito nets, cushions and the carpets were very dusty and some of the nets had holes in them so not very useful against mosquitoes. The two sofa beds were found to be unusable being not comfortable at all (too firm), the two chairs on the third floor were broken as well as two portable fans. Furthermore, on the second floor the rain infiltrates below the floor tiles and the rest area on the third floor was filthy with pigeon droppings and a bee nest. In conclusion, I would suggest the owner to replace, fix, do a good clean up and perhaps refresh the paint before others rent this place.

What a fantastic time in Salvador Da Bahia, a magical place to spent time relaxing and enjoying life ,the most enchanting villa and neighbours . The culture is to die for ,the food , praia, and people made it a time, not to be slept away , but to be cherished , embraced, and loved with your whole heart. Many Thanks Nicolas Theres magic in the air , seeing is believeing.

Not a place to stay

November 24, 2010

The first day we had only cold water. The 2nd/3rd days we had no water. The person sent to help us told us that this was a problem in the neighborhood with water pressure which I'm sure the owner knew. The last morning we were there the pool overflowed and the owner blamed that for the previous three days without water, even though his "helper" was there the day before and explained the problem with the water pressure. The owner refused to refund our rent stating .."what do we expect for such a cheap price" All of a sudden we were the problem, not his house which is obviously not maintained. The owner did not seem to understand that we expected to be able to shower in hot water and flush the toilet implying that we were stupid Americans. Extremely inconvenient to find a new place to stay as the neighborhood has no internet access. In addition, the towels smelled terrible..musty with mildew. The neighborhood was very noisy with roosters crowing at 2am, neighbors dog barked constantly. Boombox music started every morning around 6am. The house is located near very pretty beaches however, but it's at least 45 minutes from the Pelhourinho area and not convenient at all. Actually, we realize that things happen, but the owner had a very nasty attitude about the problems we had with no responsiblity at all for renting something that obviously was not fit to rent. The only reason that this received one star is that the review would not accept no stars.

A Brazilian Feast

January 18, 2008

I recently stayed in this wonderful house with my husband and two adult children. This was our first trip to Brazil. We spent three weeks immersed in the neighborhood and the culture of Bahia. We enjoyed shopping for food at the market and observing Bahian life on our morning walks to the market and the beach. The house is just what we imagined it to be. Spacious, comfortable, rustic, bohemian, private, indoor, outdoor. The neighborhood is full of music, a languid energy, and colorful characters. I highly recommend this house for a taste of Bahia and Brazil. Thanks to Nico for providing a wonderful, amazing place to stay and to Luz who helped us when we needed it!

A kiss with Itapua

This house was an absolute pleasure for a two week dip into Bahia!!!The house is simple and rustic and will not meet your needs if you are looking for a luxurious place. It is, however, really spaceous, quaint and suitable for an entire group of people. I do not recommend this house if you will be alone, want to meet other tourists or want to be in the center of action. It is a perfect place if you are looking for an intimate experience with locals and want to emerse yourself into an authentic Bahian neighborhood. The house is simple and rustic, but is decorated by two fabulous New York designers and really charming with a pool, hammocks and garden! The beach is a close walk and there is a lovely lake just footsteps away!! This house is not for everyone, but it was perfect for my friend and I who would go again in a heartbeat!
