I wanted 'something to remember' with this vacation trip to San Pedro, Belize.....Casita Buena Vista exceeded ALL expectations! This place is an unbelievable existing postcard! Everything in the apartment/mini-house is completely up to date and impeccable in taste......the bathroom is truly unbelievable. There are huge windows all the way around giving great views; especially in the bedroom and the back screened in porch which both give you gorgeous views of the ocean and sunrise, which we used every morning to enjoy our morning coffee and email reading....off of the provided wifi. If you happen to be in need of anything, all you had to do was ask the proprietor, the grounds keeper, or maid....whatever you needed, it was quickly provided!!! This included fresh coconut water pulled down from the trees and opened in front of you!!! You just cant imagine a better place!! Snorkeling, kayaking, paddleboarding were all provided; theres also guided snorkeling/exploring trips and the most quaint town, San Pedro; which are all the lil extras that just make you wish you never had to leave!!!!! I will be returning to Casita Buena Vista!!

A wonderful relaxing oasis from our everyday world
April 5, 2013
A wonderful relaxing oasis from our everyday world. Wolfgang is attentive, as are Eldon and Merta, and they make sure that you are properly orientated to the island. Wolfgang tells or shows you the best places to purchase whatever you need or the best places to eat. He is very familiar with the island and is well known by many of the locals and business owners. The island is fun – lots to do if you want to – diving, snorkeling, Mayan Ruins, and shopping. Suya Tours zipline and cave tubing was most convenient with only a 2 minute walk down the beach to their dock. Or the island lifestyle invites you to relax and enjoy the sun, water, and quiet. The private beach in front of the villa beckons you to soak up the rays, take a quick dip, keep track of the local crabs peeking up over the seawall, or spend hours reading or sleeping while being caresses by the warm ocean breezes. The well cared for grounds invite you to leave your shoes in your room and tickle your toes with the white sand. You can spend your day as active as you want or relax all day and do nothing! And Casita Buena Vista is the perfect place for an island getaway. Just far enough from the city of San Pedro to be relaxing, but close enough to cart or even walk into town for dinner. Casita Buena Vista has everything you could ever need. The kitchen is a perfect for making any size meal you should need. Living room furniture is very comfy. Several options exist for seating for a light snack at the kitchen counter or larger meals at the lovely antique dinning table. A delightful screened porch makes for a quiet reading corner with a view to the water. While the bedroom is small, it is a very usable space and the newly renovated bath features a large open shower. All-in-all, Casita Buena Vista was a great find for us. It provided us with just the right amount of relaxation and peaceful environment. Wolfgang and Cookie, with the newest addition of Tiger, are the perfect host. Wolfgang’s orientation golf cart ride into San Pedro is very informative and shows he is truly proud of his adopted home, and shows how friendly and welcoming the island is. Casita Buena Vista should be on everyone’s list of places to stay when in San Pedro, and is top on our list of places to return to. This feels like our second home.

Casita Buena Vista
January 28, 2013
Undoubtedly one of the best vacations we ever had. Just had a great time. The staff at Casita Buena Vista is so helpful. Wolfgang was more than helpful in showing us around and went above and beyond. Eldon the caretaker and Mirta the housekeeper were not only great to have serving us, but became great friends as well. Last but not least, Cookie the wonderdog is the nicest dog we have ever met.and accompanied us to many places on the golf cart and just hung with us all week. We were there over the Christmas holidays and this went down as our best Christmas ever. We are going back for next Christmas and look forward to seeing everyone. Just the best of the best.

I came down with two other gals from the U.S. on our first trip to Belize. I was somewhat uneasy about what to expect regarding security in another country. I can't believe that I wasted any time thinking about it. There is a wall safe for your valuables, Passport, etc. and Wolfgang, or one of his employees are on premises all the time. You can rent cell phones locally for $5.00 a day and if you use common sense as you would at home there is no reason why single women would ever have issues there. The local people are very friendly and helpful and most all of them speak English. You can walk a block's distance in one direction or another from our rental to get anything you will need from beer to fresh fruits and veggies. As a person who enjoys cooking, I was in Heaven! This rental has a full kitchen which we used a lot. There are so many other American travelers there and some own their condos and some have time shares. You are constantly meeting new friends who can give you advise on tours and local places to eat and drink; as does Wolfgang, the owner of our rental. He is a very cordial host and is there for whatever you may need. The snorkeling is phenomenal here. You can walk a block's distance either along the beach or down the road to line up several different fishing, diving or snorkeling trips as well as other guided trips to see Mayan ruins, go cave tubing or zip-line through the rainforest. The only thing that I would do differently next time is to bring more cash. I found that unless you're in town; which is a couple miles away you won't be able to use your credit card for groceries. This was the best vacation ever in my fifty-five years and I can't wait to bring my husband to experience this beautiful country and it's people. I WILL be back!
Best vacation ever

Wolgang's cottage was perfect for us as we didn't want to be in the middle of all the resorts and tourist but wanted to be close to everything. He was great at giving us a tour of great businesses and steered us to great adventures. Everyone that works for Wolfgang made us feel like family and I will not only miss the beautiful country but new found friends.

My husband and I came back from San Pedro 2 weeks ago and we can't stop thinking about going back. From day 1 we felt very welcomed by Wolfgang, Eldon and Merta, along with Cookie, Affie and lily. Wolfgangs extended family. Upon arrival our golf cart was delivered to the airport (very convenient) and then we were on our way to 1 week of total relaxation. After arriving at Buena Vista, Eldon was there to greet us and make sure we settled in. Once settled, Wolfgang took us on a tour of the island showing all the hotspots we needed to check out , which included Marias exceptional fruit stand, best restaurants, shops and where to get the best breads and meats. Eldon also directed us towards a business for our day trips, which was extremely helpful and inexpensive. Everyday seemed better than the next. It was the perfect getaway for the both of us especially with the weather from upstate NY. We highly recommend visiting Buena Vista or San Pedro Island for anyone just wanting to get away from the winter blues. This is the spot to be. Everything was taken care of for us and we never went without and we are very anxious and are looking forward to booking again. Deepest thanks to Wolfgan, Eldon and Merta for making our vacation feel like home away from home. And lets not forget Cookie, Affie and lily. Hope to see all you guys again next year, Thomas and Christina Keeler

We arrived with joyful anticipation ... and we were never disappointed! Wolfgang is an impeccable, delightful host who made Casita Buena Vista feel like a home away from home. We were sad to leave, but happy that we booked our next visit before we departed. Eldon greeted us upon our arrival, and after showing us around the house and property, he pointed us toward Mr. Joe's, where we enjoyed a lunch of fish burgers and a couple of Belikins. Jonathan from Carts Belize brought our golf cart to us at the restaurant -- nice! -- and we met up with Wolfgang after our meal. Wolfgang took us on a two-hour tour of San Pedro town, stopping along the way to point out must-eat restaurants (EVERY tip was on point!). He also took us to pick up necessary provisions: lamb salami at The Butcher, a fresh baguette at The Baker, a case of beer at the distributor, locally roasted coffee and Austrian cheese at Island Buy, and fresh-squeezed pineapple-orange juice and assorted vegetables and fruits at Maria's roadside stand. Wolfgang knows everyone at these sites and introduced us not just as guests but as friends. Each day, he and Eldon (always accompanied by Cookie and Affie, Wolfgang's sweet and silly pups) inquired about our sleep and any needs we had, and encouraged us to enjoy the many island adventures available to us or simply to relax on the beach. We did it all, and left wanting more. See y'all next year!
Great little beach getaway!
December 8, 2010
This is a great place to come if you want a quiet getaway. It is 2.5 miles south of town which is a $10US cab ride or a quick trip by golf cart (but they are very expensive to rent). There is food and some groceries nearby, though. The casita has a well equipped kitchen, a large living room, a great beach front and swimming area, all very well maintained by the ever cheerful and helpful Eldon who can get you anything you may need from lobster to fresh towels. We walked into town once on the beach and paddled to town in the kayak, but it is a pretty good hike by either. The bathroom is small but functional: the bedroom is small but the bed is firm and the fans are wonderful. We didn't run the AC units but would have had to use them in the hotter months. The casita could easily be converted into a 2 bedroom--it is a little empty on the newly added side. We had a great trip into town with Wolfgang (the host) on our first morning there. He knows all the best places to buy specialty groceries and local juices, fruits and veggies. Don't miss a meal at the Blue Water Grill, or fresh salsa and guacamole at Maria's roadside fruit stand. We dove with Nephtali at Ambergris Divers and with Chuck and Robbie's Scuba. Both were great. They come pick you up from the dock! The all day trip out to Blue Hole will bring us back to Belize in a couple years. We liked the look of Wolfgang's downstairs rental. A little more comfortably furnished and a better layout. We had a great time.

Wolfgang we not home 24 hours and are already planning our next stay. 2 weeks of the best relaxation we have ever taken. As others have stated if you are looking for a high end busy resort type stay, this is not for you. If you are looking for peace and quiet with a fantastic view and a gracious host and staff, THIS PLACE CANNOT BE BEAT! This was our first time to Belize and not sure of anything as far as travel or transportation or tours. Wolfgang made all the proper arrangments and we were not disappointed. His staff (Eldone & Merta) were kind and professional, taking care of any need we had. The Casita was VERY spacious and lacked nothing. Ambergris Caye is paradise and Casita Beuna Vista is a big part of it. Wolf, Thanks again for a wonderful stay and send along our thoughts too Affie and Cookie. Warmest Regards; Richard & Leslee

Beautiful View Friendly People
November 15, 2009
Spacious casita next to the main house. Beautiful beach view with shade or sun. Excellent diving and great dive masters with Suya Tours about 2 minutes walk to their dock. Good snorkeling right off the beach. Excellent dive sites within 5 to 10 minute boat rides. Locals are friendly and helpful. The owner, Wolfgang, took us into town on the first day for some grocery shopping, breakfast, and a tour of the town. He is an excellent host and helpful in all matters. Plenty of choices in restaurants and bars in town with Joe's, only a few minutes walk away. Joe's is kind of a convenience store with a kitchen and outside seating. You can buy a beer and a burger or wine and a skillfully prepared special of the day with tastefully balanced flavors and spices. The casita has free Internet access and satellite TV for times when a break is in order. An overall good value with a relaxed, private feel, and easy access to town.

A week in paradise.
January 27, 2009
We stayed for a week and hated to leave and go home. If you are looking to be right in the midst of restaurants, bars, and wall to wall people, don't book the casita. However, if you want to rent a small, serene dwelling with a beautiful beach just over a 100 feet away from where you sleep and eat, this is the place for you. You can be in the middle of town in 10-30 minutes based on whether you take a golf cart, bike or walk. Several small stores are much closer. The owner is on premises and treats you as if you are family. If you need info, he is happy to assist. If you want privacy, he will oblige accordingly. We highly recommend this place.
The Casita Buena Vista certainly met all of our expectations and more. Pictures do not do justice to the wonderful beachfront location and the perfect ocean breeze that accompanies it. The location is near enough to San Pedro to be able to take advantage of restaurants, shopping and recreation, but far enough to partake only in R&R if that is your desire. Wolfgang is a wonderful host providing every possible assistance, if needed. I would rate this an A+ and recommend it to anyone interested in a non-resort experience.
