Reviews for this vacation guesthouse rental in Venice Beach, California

This 2 bedroom one bath fits Venice Beach area perfectly. Location, location, location--it had it. One block from beach, walkable to canals and restaurants. If someone was staying in for some unimaginable reason, he could watch TV in either bedroom or the Living room, cook or seat on the deck. Linens, games, maps of area --all provided. 6 quests would be crowded, 4 was perfect. Worth a visit.

The location was great, but there were a few problems w/ the cottage. When we checked in we noticed the place smelled strongly of gas. Christina relit the pilot light in the oven for us, but it didn't stay lit. I alerted Christina to the problem twice and she said she called the repairman but in the 7 days we stayed there no one ever came or called. I tried following up w/ her but the mailbox on her phone was full. We have a 5 year old and were concerned about gas fumes so we kept windows open in every room even though it was unseasonably cold and rainy. Also..pot holders, garbage bags and spare light bulbs would be appreciated. We have several rental properties and consider those items to be standard equipment. We needed all those things during weeklong stay and didn't have them. Thanks for asking for feedback.
Very Disappointing - Left after only one night!

Despite the friendliness and the helpfulness of the owners the accommodation itself was unacceptable on almost every level. There was a strong smell of mustiness and dampness throughout the property. The property was poorly cleaned; carpets and bedding were stained, cupboards, drawers and surfaces were dusty and/or grease stained. The bathroom door did not close properly nor was there a lock fitting on the door. The bathroom window did not have a curtain/blind and although the owners stated that it was not possible to see inside from outside the property, we felt there was a lack of privacy. Fittings and fixtures in bedrooms were damaged – wardrobe doors, light shades, wires/cables were damaged/missing/exposed. The ancient wall heaters/vents were very dusty and damaged. The bedrooms also contained children's toys, seating etc.. which were stored in a wardrobe and fitted cupboard. A glass panel in one of the bedrooms (which appeared to be part of the wall structure but not as a window or decorative feature) did not have a covering and gave open view to the street outside and reduced privacy. We decided to leave the property after staying only one night. The owners were very helpful and agreed that the points raised were valid & returned our money without any problem. It was their intention to rectify the problems we raised. Therefore it's possible that future guests will not encounter the problems we did.
We didn't want to leave

We loved our Venice Beach vacation! The location of the cottage is so perfect, close to shops, boardwalk, beach, bike path... it enabled all of us to get just what we wanted out of vacation. Jonathan and his family are very welcoming, and helped to make our stay just perfect. The cottage is just as pictured, cute, cozy, and a place where you will feel at home. We plan on coming back and staying again (hopefully in the near future).
The best bit of Venice to live in!

Lovely cottage just on the beach, it was ideally located just off the boardwalk and within short walking distance of the noise of the boardwalk. We loved our stay, the owner was extremely accomodating and the facilities were perfect! Thank you Jonathan.
