Venice is located in Southwest Florida, about ten miles south of Sarasota along the shoreline of the Gulf of Mexico with fourteen miles of beachfront. Downtown Venice is actually an island surrounded by the Intracoastal Waterway to the west and the Gulf of Mexico to the east.

There are many public beaches, fine shelling, fossilized sharks' tooth hunting, swimming, boating, fishing, golf, tennis, kayaking, scuba diving, shopping along the historic Venice Avenue, first-rate restaurants, numerous outdoor festivals/special events; and several public parks. Charter fishing tours are available in Venice and Scuba divers love the Reef! For seafood lovers don't forget to visit Sharky's on the Pier as well as Caspersen beach. Venetian Waterway Park offers walkers, joggers, and bike riders miles of paved and beautifully landscaped sidewalk trails along the Intracoastal Waterway. Nature lovers can enjoy bird watching at Oscar Scherer State Park or go canoeing down the Myakka River. There are golf courses and tennis courts lighted for night play. See some of the areas’ finest performances at The Venice Little Theatre. There is an art center and a local library as well.

15-45 minutes to Sarasota: Mote Marine Aquarium, Ringling Museum of Art, Sarasota Jungle Gardens, Selby Botanical Gardens and the Van Wezel Performing Arts Center.
