Spectacular

April 25, 2015

The Purdy Valley Vacation Home is everything we expected and more. From the fresh eggs, home made jelly and cookies to the fabulous facilities we could not have been more pleased. The best stocked utensil kitchen I have ever rented and everything was clean and neat. We could not have been happier.

Perfectly relaxing

October 30, 2014

We loved our time in what we dubbed "The Cabin in the Woods," there was hiking on the property, campfires, feeding the donkeys and sheep. It was a magical week for us. Our two year old loved that while we ate dinner he could watch the goats milling about in the pastures and that each morning he could hear them beneath his window. The owner really goes out of her way to make sure you have everything you could need in just the right place. For instance, the coffee table in the livingroom opens to find lap blankets, playing cards and info about town. Just where you want it. The basket of cookies and dozen eggs were of course lovely and well appreciated. The eggs were so crazy fresh. I just loved them. The kitchen is well appointed. All the things you could need for cooking with little more than the actual food to be brought or bought in town. We visited the farmers market on Saturday and made good use of the local produce and shopped at the Amish stalls for handmade baskets. The town itself is beautiful and friendly. Small but filled with all you could possibly need.

Felt at home immediately

July 29, 2014

My wife and I stayed two nights at this beautiful farmhouse near Viroqua - July 20 &21. The house was spotless and cookies and eggs were waiting on the dining room table. All linens and towels were provided. The hot tub was an added bonus. With a modern kitchen, it was easy to prepare meals here. We were allowed to feed the llama. donkeys, horse and sheep 5 "treats" each. That was fun. There was also a very lovable cat who was around most of the time. The proximity to LaCrosse and Onalaska allowed us to spend time at each city without too much travel time. All in all, the vacation was as good as we hoped for. We may likely go back next summer.

More than 5 star!!

December 29, 2013

We arrived after dark to a very warm, inviting atmosphere! The lights were on to show the way and it was move-in ready with homemade cookies and jam waiting on the table, and fresh eggs in the fridge. It was the perfect half way location for us to meet our sons for Christmas, who arrived from Wyoming the next morning. Very clean, with everything we could possibly need. Enjoyed the breathtaking landscape, the farm animals and the opportunity to have our dogs with us. The homeowners are very friendly and accommodating, coming to plow us out and shovel the walkways on Christmas day! This is a real gem for a peaceful family get away, one we will be revisiting! Anyone who is looking for a place to stay, please don't miss this one. You won't be sorry.

Quiet getaway

November 18, 2013

6 of us women get away every year to shop in little town shops, this was the perfect location. The Amish community was close by, and the shops in towns were cute. The house was awesome! Very well kept, the walking trail was nice, but most all we loved the hot tub! The fresh cookies and homemade jam was delicious and an added treat to our laid back weekend. There is NO cellphone service, but the house phone worked just fine, and the Wi-Fi was great. If you are looking for a place to go away from a busy town this was perfect. Animals and nature are right there. We also met one of the neighbors at the grocery store and she was very helpful in directing us to even more shops. I highly recommend staying here, you can't beat it, especially for the price!

Wonderfully Peaceful!

October 14, 2013

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Country Farm House. We loved sitting on the porch swing listening to the birds and watching the animals in the pasture. The house was perfect. We slept quite well in the comfy bed with the fresh smelling sheets and blankets. We're thinking about coming back. If you want to get away from the stress of work and city life, I would highly recommend the Country Farm House.

get away from it all!

January 22, 2012

We went there for a weekend in Jan, the farm house was amazing. When we arrived there was a batch of homemade cookies and a dozen eggs. The kitchen had everything you needed to make a meal instead of eating out. Then we relaxed in the hottub i needed that after starting a new job that is very physically demanding. Then we took advantage of the sleds in the shed and the dogs just love running around and chasing the cats up the trees they also did their share of harrassing the dogs it was vey comical. They also had snowshoes and bikes for the summer. They had a firepit and it backs up to the bad axe river that you can trout fish. Took advantage of the swing in front of the house. There is things to do there for all ages nice place to get away from it all. We will be going back for sure. We want to go in the summer and take advantage of the bikes and canoe down the kickapoo river and the nice walking trails that are right behind the house.

Truth in Advertising

This home came exactly as advertised. If what is described is what you are looking for, then don't look elsewhere. The home features many amenities which are all first-class. The kitchen is especially outstanding, which is good, because the restaurants in town are sub-par.

Relaxing Getaway

July 16, 2010

Our family so enjoyed our stay at Purdy Valley! The Home is even more beautiful than the photos and the Master Bedroom is huge. We would highly recommend this country getaway. The kitchen is a joy to cook in, all the dishes and gadgets you will need are provided. The farm fresh eggs and homemade cookies made for such a nice welcome. Everything on the property was well kept and towels/linens very nice. We enjoyed the well marked hiking trails at the rear of the property near the river and had fun interacting with the sheep and donkeys in the pastures. Coffee in the morning on the front porch overlooking the sheep and watching the birds at the feeder was such an enjoyable way to start the day. Lazy afternoons reading in the hammock and relaxing in the hot tub. Large grassy front yard perfect for the lawn games we brought along. Nice grill on the deck for cookouts. We ended the day around the fire under star filled skies. One afternoon we drove into Ontario to canoe on the Kickapoo River great easy trip down the river with spectacular scenery. Nice not to have cellphone coverage helped us feel like we were really getting away from it all.
