LOVE THE OCEAN WALKS!
June 22, 2015
We had a wonderful three days at this cabin in the woods above the beach. I don't know how the swimming is since I didn't swim on this trip, but we did see three teenagers surfing one day and boogie boarding the next day. We also saw several fishermen (wearing waders) in the water. Some days we were the only people on the beach. One day we saw a bald eagle perched on the big rock. It was low tide so we could walk right up to the rock. We might have been only 40 feet away. He (she?) was magnificent. I have never been that close to a bald eagle that wasn't flying.
The other lovely thing is the deck and the wall of windows in the living room and main bedroom, so even when you are not at the beach you can see and hear and smell the ocean, while you have coffee or dinner or just sit out there reading. The stars are also amazing. We had a string of sunny days and clear nights. I don't know how common that is but we loved it.
You can walk for miles. We typically walked for 2 hours in the morning and two hours in the evening, but you could walk much farther if you wanted to.
There is a big screen tv that has a really fun variety of music stations - jazz, indie, blues, folk, classical, rock, country - whatever you like. One day we spent four hours listening to music while reading/ sketching , looking at the ocean, breathing the fresh air.
If you like to cook there is a full kitchen with an oven and nice big fridge so you could bring groceries in for a family of six for a week and never have to go back out.
I love camping but not everyone does. This was the best of both -- living in the elements as much as you want -- just step through the sliding door and you are there, surrounded by views and sounds and smells of forest and beach, or walk through the forest (I think it took us ten minutes on a wide driveway, until the end when we were on a sandy path) and you are at the beach. But if it is raining or windy -- step back in and you can hear and see and smell the wonderful air from the comfort of your living room, with a toasty fire if you want.
I loved this place.
