Honeymoon Rental (mid-August)
August 25, 2015
After a long summer of 40+hr work weeks plus wedding planning, my new wife and I were desperate for a pleasant getaway in a place close to home that didn't break the bank, but still felt like we were somewhere new and luxurious - the Landmark Resort was the place to be. There is a myriad of things available at the resort alone: indoor hot tubs, steam rooms, indoor and outdoor pools, an arcade room, trails that wind through the property, the Carrington Pub and Grill, and amazing lobby rooms that have stunning views of Green Bay beyond the woods below.
The Bisbee family's rental unit was wonderful. It was well-equipped for daily needs, from having a toaster, coffee maker, microwave and other appliances to dishes and glassware to serve many meals for us newlyweds. The air conditioning was a blessing on a hot streak of days, and the blinds offered some privacy from the parking lot visible through the gentle woods. Despite being near the vehicles, we rarely heard anything from outside, and with the blinds drawn we only saw the sun when we wanted to (we slept in more than either of us had in years). The unit was clean when we arrived, and we experienced no issues before, during, or after our stay. We even got a call halfway through our stay from the front desk asking if everything was okay. My only complaint is that the Wi-Fi was spotty; on two days my laptop could not connect at all due to lack of network connectivity, and when we called the front desk no one picked up for the three to five minutes we let the phone ring. No one called us back, either, to our knowledge. Luckily, it came back after each incident, and it all happened after I had wrapped up my online summer class.
The location is superb. You can take the back road straight into the heart of Egg Harbor, which itself sits near the middle of the peninsula. There's a gas station just down the road and a market open until 9pm that meets your basic needs in most regards, not to mention the dozens of tourist stores, beaches, and parks. From Egg Harbor, you can take county highway 42 north (Ephraim, Sister Bay) or south (Juddville, Carlsville) and find plenty of things to see, or cut over to county highway 57 via E/Ee/Q and see Baileys Harbor or P.C. Junction, all within a half hour of driving.
Overall, a very good stay - the Bisbee family takes good care of this unit, and my wife and I are looking to come back already in the autumn for some fall colors!
