Just as North Dakotans start to getting antsy for sun, right about now Floridians crave a little winter.
“Even a Miami kid needs to see snow once in awhile,” wrote a colleague.
As a former Floridian, I know from experience that weather in Sunshine State generally falls into two categories: hot and hotter. While most residents are blessed to see the sun out the majority of the year,at times it can feel oppressive and monotonous.
The answer to that eternal summer blues: a stay in a Colorado vacation rental.
Tired of tank tops and cut-off shorts? Trade the barely there look for North Face down coats and Patagonia boots. About had it with ripping the curls in Cocoa Beach? Shred the slopes near Colorado Springs. Had your share of rum runners while taking the boat for a spin around Gulf waters? Whip yourself up a hot toddy by a stone fireplace in a Vail cabin rental.
And when those frigid temps get to be too much for your Clearwater bones, hop in the hot tub.
When you close your eyes, it will almost feel like you’re back in Tampa Bay.

Hi there! Thanks for mentioning Colorado Springs
, we’re a great year-round destination. Although we do not have skiing or snowboarding right here in the city, it’s about an hour and 45 minutes away.
