Yep, we dropped the F word.

But let’s look at the upsides of switching seasons: apple picking, that first crackle of the fire and long walks in the woods to peep at those brilliant hues of amber and gold.

And when we’re talking Maine vacation rentals, autumn might be the best time to visit.

Especially when your home away from home is the Otisfield vacation rental in the photo. We can’t envision a more perfect seasonal escape, from the gleaming wood everything (Check out the log construction) to amazing theater room with seating for 12 guests.

Secluded on 160 acres, the lakefront six-bedroom property offers an excuse for a family reunion or one helluva football-viewing weekend. With several size TVs, multiple gaming options, plus bathrooms for all six bedrooms, the group won’t be able to complain about a lack of space or comfort.

The house, within 30 minutes of Shawnee Peak, serves another purpose during winter: It’s built to host your next ski, snowmobiling, sledding or ice-skating trip.

But August–without a doubt–is way too early to be thinking, let alone talking, about snow.
