The El Nino weather pattern has a lot of East Coasters kvetching about their brutal winter.
I do feel sorry for them–no power, a lack of snow plows–but my neighbors in Chicago can only laugh. Everyday is Groundhog Day here.
If frigid, skin-chaffing temps have no effect on you, then by all means, come on up. Chicago vacation rentals await.
Right now, the city celebrates its legendary season with the Winter Dance Festival in Millennium Park. For the rest of the month, visitors can practice their double axels at McCormick Tribune Ice Rink during free sessions. Don’t know how to skate? Get lessons from 8am to 10am on the weekends.
And finally, if you’d rather spend your vacation protected from the cold, by all means, stay inside. There’s dance lessons at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, a precursor to the city’s “SummerDance” event when folks cha-cha-cha on an open-air dance floor.
And that’s when the Second City really throws a party.
