The First Family made its pilgrimage to the President’s native Hawaii, spending Christmas Day at a Marine Base before retiring for their holiday meal in a $9 million Kailua vacation rental, according to the AP.
Hawaii vacation homes have long been star magnets, pulling in the likes of Oprah, Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore. While the rest of us are shivering in our Uggs, we can only imagine these beach-bound celebs getting massages in their lanais, eating organic, fresh seafood and greens in open-air verandas by moonlight.
While those A-listers have a whole lot more cash to drop on their tropical hideaways, the islands are dotted with affordable getaways for folks who don’t have a Bentley in their driveway. The Honolulu vacation rental pictured is one such place, perfectly priced at $4,500 a month.
The three-bedroom home was designed without drywall, opting for a simple red and wood cedar frame that leads to a private deck overlooking Ocean/Diamond Head. Bali wood furnishings offer a place to drink our Kona coffee in the mornings.
It isn’t oceanside, but the beach is only a 10-minute drive away. And the final caveat: Rental of this property requires a 30-day stay. Teachers and freelancers–maybe this is next summer’s vacation?
