While the eye of Earl has managed to stay off the coast of the Outer Banks, the pelting rain and heavy winds linger, and early warnings prompted eager vacationers to evacuate.

Of all the weekends, right?

Travelers headed to Ocean City vacation homes and Cape Cod vacation rentals may be pondering a similar circumstance this weekend, when the Category 2 storm winds up the coast. Mother Nature, you can be so cruel.

But after the great summer most of us had, we can’t complain too much. Here’s hoping for a rec room stocked with board games and a Wii.
