Great House- great location
August 5, 2015
After my husband and I just moved to Houston, I knew I wanted to experience the Texas gulf coast since it is so close. I found Pelican's Cay on a site for dog friendly rentals. This place was perfect. The house was the perfect size with all the amenities for a comfortable stay. The king bed was so comfortable and the furniture in the living room was super nice (you just can't go wrong with a leather reclining sofa and chair.) The kitchen had everything you would need to cook every night. I really appreciated the dishwasher. The last beach house rented didn't have one. Great fridge with ice and filtered water too. I have two medium sized dogs and there were plenty of places to hose them off before coming into the house. The house isn't right on the beach but the beach is very close, just a short walk down the road. The beach is fairly clean for the most part (there are plenty of places to place your trash- people can just be lazy) and I enjoyed my daily walk down the miles of quiet beach immensely. There is a partial view of the beach from the back porch and you can enjoy the nice breeze and the sound of the waves as you relax in the afternoons and the evenings for it is wonderfully shaded. The little neighborhood of Treasure Island is very quaint and all the people were nice that I passed on my walks. I noticed on a previous review that there was a complaint about going into Galveston for groceries and the toll charge. My advice is if you want groceries is to go the opposite way from Galveston (I came in on the 332 through Angleton, Clute and Freeport.) You completely avoid the Galveston traffic and the Galveston tollway. I got my groceries at the Kroger in Clute. It is about 20 minutes away and an easy drive.
Lawanda is a great manager and very easy to contact with any questions or concerns. Nice gal. We will be back to this spot next year for sure. LOVE LOVE LOVE Pelican's Cay!
