Our vacation at The Deer House was a great time. The weather didn't cooperate for going in the water for more than a few minutes as it was cold and cloudy most of the time, but we did have plenty to do aside from swimming. We enjoyed canoeing around the lake and seeing the loons. There are tons of water toys which the kids used to float on top of the water which was chilly but may have been fine on a hot day. There are several waterfalls nearby; we drove about 45 minutes up to Superior Falls one day, that was a great outing. We drove to Shays Falls about 10 minutes away a different day and were disappointed that it was just a spillway, but we found blackberries so that outing was worthwhile. We had a fire outside at the fire pit one night, and inside in the fireplace another night. The pictures are a little outdated, there is nice new carpet throughout the house and everything was in good condition. There are plenty of games and puzzles inside to occupy time; but no movies to watch that we could find, only a few VHS tapes with a DVD player. There isn't much of a yard for activities, the front yard is mostly taken up by the driveway, septic and trees while the backyard is all wooded hill leading to the lake. That looks to be what most yards in this area consist of, so it goes along with the location. Overall we had a great time and will put this on our list of locations to consider in future years.
