Peaceful base camp
July 9, 2014
We stayed at Seacroft Cottage from 6/28-7/5/14. The cottage was well-equipped, comfortable, quiet, and peaceful. It was also well-located for our daily excursions to explore the area: we went to multiple historic sites, Acadia National Park, nearby towns, and nearby state parks. The cottage was homey and comfortable; it was clean, well-appointed, and everything was working (better than some hotels!). We very much enjoyed being able to make our own breakfast and eat it on the porch while watching the local wildlife and planning the day. It was also exceptionally nice at the end of the day to come back to the cottage, sit on the porch, have a cold drink, talk through the day's adventures, and enjoy Margaret's garden. Margaret was very helpful, giving us local information and offering to get us any kitchen utensils we might need (if we had decided to do our our lobster boil). Stockton Springs is a small town and the cape is perfect for exercise: running and walking to and/or in the state park. One could also bike or brave the water at nearby Sandy Point beach or at Sears Island recreation area. Our experience was very exactly what we were hoping for.
