I am a just retired teacher of English and French, living with my husband in a farmhouse on the same property of the rented house. My son lives in Florence.
We lived in Florence till 12 years ago. When we bough the property, we appreciated its location: it feels countryside, but it's very close to the centre of the village. The buildings had been abandoned for a long time and we completely restored them reusing all the original materials and keeping the style of Florentine's countryside houses.
San Casciano is very quell placed, it is full Tuscan countryside but you can reach the centre of Florence in half an hour.
Restaurants in the village are reasonably priced and frequented mostly by locals. Staying here, you will feel the real Tuscan life of the Florentine province, not crowded with tourists.
