Hi, I'm Susan!

Hi I'm Susan -- and together with Poochie (the intrepid traveling boxer boy) and Gina (the spoiled rotten reef romping rotti) I live here on the Pacific at the Ocean Hideaway.

We love to introduce folks to the beautiful country we now call home and especially our Costa that claims the distinction of the oldest culture in the western hemisphere.

Temporada from November through April features some of our most exciting fiestas for Christmas and New Years and the local Dios de Disfuntos celebration with a walking gastronomical tour of Puerto Anconcito. June though September join us as we welcome the world's biggest love with the arrival of the humpback whales -- and say hello on a whale watching tour off Salinas with our marine biologist.

If you are interested in Ecuador as a retirement destination we would love to help you learn more about buying real estate in Ecuador. Come meet our friend Amy L. Prisco, the only American holding an Ecuador license to sell real estate -- who can educate you on the reality of buying, selling, renting and owning property in Ecuador

If you are winding up a Galapagos tour, the Ocean Hideaway is the perfect spot to catch up on your rest, review your pictures and videos, and recharge at the local nightspots before heading home.

The Hideaway is hard to find but

“ Excellent ”

it is worth the effort. We stayed eight nights and had a great time. Susan, the hostess, really has a little piece of heaven there. The ocean is so close that it took a night to get used to the sound of the waves crashing against the beach and the rocky cliff. The meals were simple but delicious. The room was spacious and comfortable. Also there 24 hour hot water available, something that is not always found in the inns of Ecuador. There are tours available too. We took the tour up the coast to Montanita, a really cool town filled with surfers and families out to enjoy the beach. There's a couple of malls in the Salinas/Libertad area that have just about anything you'd want. We enjoyed visiting the fish and produce markets. The seafood available is fresh from the sea. You can see the lights of the fishermen's boats out on the ocean every night. Susan is a wonderful hostess and made sure we had a vacation that would give us great memories for years to come.
