Hi, I'm Andy Bob!

Bob & I are middle-aged professionals realizing a dream in the Puna district of Hawaii. We both love tropical horticulture, exploring and taming the rain forest, swimming and cooking the fine, local produce from farmers' markets in Pahoa and Hilo. We prefer vacations "off the beaten path" eschewing the synthetic, ersatz paradise offered up by resorts and large, corporate hotels. We've developed lasting friendships in Puna and encourage you to do the same as you return to this enchanting, anachronistic, rural vacation haven. If you need exciting nightlife, then Kona may suit your style better than the Hilo side of the island. We welcome you to cook, sleep, read, rest and celebrate your relationship at Mahi Oli'Oli. It's great place to connect with your loved one and with yourself.

You have to experience the place to know just how AWESOME it is? Other than a lost car that accidentally pulled into our driveway one night, it is true privacy for those who can appreciate it. If you want to cook/bake/grill, this home has all the equipment. Just make sure to stop for groceries along the way, since you will not be close to any shopping areas. Just a walk down the private drive, you can buy inexpensive seasonal fresh fruit/nuts at Puna Girl Farm. A few miles further and you have multiple beaches to select from. Even on a cloudy day, the natural HOT SPRINGS pool is a place you must experience. If you want to snorkel in a protected calm area, the TIDE POOL area is also an adventure of a lifetime for those visiting the east side of the Big Island. We never would have imagined you could see so much underwater beauty in tide pools! For a full day trip, drive down to Volcano's National Park. You probably won't be impressed by any spewing craters (unless they've had a recent eruption), but just seeing & learning about the Kilauea Caldera and walking the trails (nice & level/mostly paved) is worth a trip. Get an early start, take a rain-proof jacket just in case, and you will enjoy the park and all that it has to offer. Plenty of places to eat along the way or pack your cooler. The home has its own little library with plenty to read, along with movie DVD's for relax time. We didn't miss TV, and since we only stayed (8) nites, we managed without internet access. Whether you are looking for a romantic spot in Hawaii, or just want to get away from the crazy world for awhile, this is the place for you. Their video doesn't even do justice to the expansive grounds and fantastic views.
