A home with all of the amenities
July 14, 2015
We stayed here for 4 nights and found the home very comfortable and the neighborhood mellow. They have everything you would need plus more. As soon as we walked in it reminded me of my grandparents home near Lake Michigan. As far as the area a few notes: The only place you would ride a bike is on Notre Dame Ave. There are NO bike lanes so this is not a friendly biking community. At the end of Chicago Ave. (right down the street from the house) is beach access, but not really a beach since most of it is eroded. A nice place to watch a sunset from on top of a dune. NOT accessible for the elderly. Not far from there is another small park you can go to, but once again no beach to speak of. We rode our bikes to Grand Mere State Park and at the end of the trail are sand trails that take you to the lake. We loved it, but not easy to get to. A really hike up and down the dunes but well worth it. We did notice a road with a handicap sign for beach access. Maybe old and young can use it but not sure. You are very close to St. Joseph. Had a nice lunch there and went to Silver Beach. I've been coming to Lake Michigan for 40 years and was very disappointed in how dirty this beach was. Pretty area and nice little downtown too. Saugatuck is an hour drive and South Haven 30 minutes. Both areas worth driving to. Our favorite was the bike trails in South Haven and the beaches. Clean and wonderful. We took the Blue Star Highway on our way back to Stevensville. Nice scenic drive. We would highly recommend the wineries. We never knew how abundant they are. We got our value out of the house and surrounding areas.
