Our family of four stayed in the Cohen Cottage and we loved it. The photos don't do it justice. There are windows everywhere so you can take in the water view and get a good breeze in the house. It is a "solid" house so I think it would be a lovely getaway in the winter as well - not drafty at all.
The master bedroom has a very comfy king bed and big master bathroom. There are two closets & a chest of drawers. The room has lots of windows but also has room-darkening shades that make it nice and dark for sleeping.
There is a bedroom upstairs with two twin beds and a full bathroom. The girls loved having their own space and their own bathroom. It has a TV and a ceiling fan.
The kitchen is huge and well appointed, plus there is a third full bathroom & laundry room off the kitchen. There are plenty of pots & pans, dishes and glasses and silverware. The kitchen has a round table that doubles as a kitchen island with four stools so you can eat meals there. There are also two stools under a different section of the counter as well.
The only thing I was hoping for that wasn't there was a pantry stocked with basic stuff like baking supplies, condiments and coffee. There are a few spices and a tiny bit of cooking oil that were probably left by another renter as well as aluminum foil, clear wrap and wax paper. But we basically had to buy all food stuffs if we wanted to cook in the house.
The living room was comfy with plenty of seats, a wood stove, ceiling fan and a big flat screen TV and DVD player. Wood is provided for the wood stove - a nice touch. There are two sofas and two comfy chairs. There is a deck off of the living room with a table and four chairs so you can eat outside.
The cottage is right on the water and comes with access to three kayaks and a row boat. But you should note that at low tide the water recedes dramatically and you're left with just mud. So you have to time your boat outings based on the high time schedule. Life jackets are provided as well. There are two one-seaters and a two-seater if you want to make sure everyone can go paddling.
This house is a GREAT find. It's quiet and peaceful and beautiful and relaxing - everything you want in a Maine vacation. You will love it as much as we did.
