Hilton Hawaiian Village
September 17, 2015
The Hilton Hawaiian Village is in a great location and readily accessable to Waikiki. It has all the amenities you need including multiple pools, a wide variety of shops and restaurants with the beach and the lagoon out the front. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment in the Lagoon tower and it was spacious and well maintained. There was live entertainment at night which was pretty good and a great firework display on the Friday night. Perfect for what we required.Oahu is a great location with Waikiki beach, Pearl Harbour and plenty of water activities - oh and maybe a few shopping opportunities for the girls (great....). We rented a car for the day and drove around the island stopping at a few location. It was a spectacular drive with the highlight being Chung Reef (Chang Reef?) on the north shore where there were literally dozens of turtles feeding on the weed on the reef on the shore line. We travelled at a reasonably quiet time and I wouldn't stay in peak season. The lift access issues are well documented and are a genuine problem especially at peak times. We had a few waits over 20 minutes or more around check-in times, but we also had times where there was no queue. The other issue was pool access which was difficult at best (we didn't go in during our stay as there were limited positions available at any time). We searched outside for additional eating options as the internal were reasonably expensive and not very exciting (our assessment and choice). We would possibly stay again as long as we could obtain the accommodation at a reasonable price and it wasn't in peak season.
