Hi, I'm Maria!

Hi, I'm Maria. Thanks for considering Casa Palomita for your stay in our beautiful Oaxaca. I bought a home in Oaxaca and completely renovated it with the help of some wonderful people. The men and women (!) put lots of love and skill in almost every corner of Casa Palomita. They said they loved working on this house, that the energy in the house and the quality of the work inspired them. One day I watched the master stone smith spend two hours carving the fountain with his chisel, he would make a mark then stand back and study how the water fell into the basin, then go back and make another chisel and over and over until the water fell just right. It was beautiful to watch. You will find many artisans like this in Oaxaca, they spill into the street. I work in public health here in San Francisco and plan to move to Oaxaca when I retire. Until then, I wanted a place to share with family and friends old and new...a place where they felt totally at home and would return and return. I priced it so that it would be very accessible. My daughter, Paloma, and I welcome you to our home and ask that you make it your own while you are there. You will leave making a new friend in Jorge, I promise that.

Hola Maria; Sorry, Gringo warp time of being in Oaxaca  Your home is amazing! I loved seeing the photos of the progress in construction or more like ‘resurrection’ that you did. We also loved the interior decorating that was done… the artwork really gave us the feeling of being someplace unique. There is nothing that could have been done to make it any more comfortable or relaxing. The only thing I questioned Lu about was the length of time it took for the Kitchen sink to receive warm water to wash dishes…the far shower in the next room over seemed to have hot water faster! It’s not something I would think can be done any different as the water flow was good at the kitchen sink. Maybe it’s because our water heater is about 5 feet from our kitchen and I’m spoiled by the short time of delivery. The only problem we had is the four pounds we gained while in Oaxaca! Thank you for putting your home out there for vacationers. The price is a real bargain. I am glad you found everything well cared for by us and if we were the type of people who would have thought of taking something that didn’t belong to us…we probably would have made off with Lu, she was a great help and we will miss her smile and peaceful demeanor. You have a dedicated caretaker in her.
