Hi, I'm K!
I have been going to cape cod since the time I was born. My sisters and I learned how to swim at John's pond, as did our father and his siblings. We learned how to sail and ski. Now our children are doing the same. I have four children ages 15, 13, 9, and 5. All can't wait for summer to be here so we can go to John's Pond.
Years ago my aunt use to own this house. She sold back in 2000. The new owners let it fall apart and it went into foreclosure. The house went up for auction. I was finally successful in acquiring the property. It has been a labor of love bringing this house back to its original condition. The house originally was a cape. My aunt added the breeze way and the Gambrel side many years ago. When we purchased the house we had to put on a new roof. Because it was such a large project it made sense to connect the upstairs of the two different sides of the houses. Adding the extra space we were able to add an upstairs full bath, laundry room and sitting area located in the upstairs breezeway area. The ocean is not far away – five minute car ride. We rarely go to the ocean because John’s Pond is perfect for all ages. For the little ones it is perfect…warm and no waves to knock them over. Mashpee commons has great shopping, theaters and restaurants. Day trips to the Vineyard and Nantucket are a breeze. Before the house was completely done my girlfriends and their families came down for a week last summer. They totaled 13 – 6 adults and 7 kids. All families are planning to return for the third year.
I have been going to this location since I was born. The house directly across the street from my house has been in our family for three generations. My three sisters and I have always enjoyed our summers on John’s Pond. We all have children now so this house is perfect for large family gatherings. To me John’s Pond is Cape Cod!!! I never really go anywhere else when on the cape.
