Hello. My name is Maryann Byrd and I'd like to welcome you to my Biscuit Cabin. I am the filmmaker and author of "The Rise of the Southern Biscuit," A double Emmy and triple Telly winning documentary on the history and whimsy of the Southern Biscuit. I also wrote; The Biscuit Dive Guide. A book that chronicles the best biscuit cafes in Nashville and the South. I write about their biscuit recipes and tips. I also have my own line of biscuit recipes that Ive created during my work on The Southern Biscuit. I've rolled out many batches of biscuits in my cozy cabin kitchen. ( I'll leave a batch of my biscuits for you in the freezer for your visit).
This historic cabin is 75 years old and it is where I raised my daughter and lived many wonderful years in Nashville. It is secluded on 8 acres next to Long Hunter State Park. There is an abundance of wildlife around the cabin; birds, turkey, deer, and my two barn cats. The 40 foot private pool and large patio make for a perfect balance of nature and luxury.
The cabin is rustic, with hand hewn logs and a simple layout. Yet, the decor and beauty of the hand hewn logs on the interior of the home give it a sophisticated feel. It is cozy and charming..but you are surrounded by nature and privacy.
There are two bedrooms, a master with a king size bed, and a second bedroom with a full bed. There's a den for watching t.v. and playing gams, a living room for reading and conversation, a dining room in the center of the cabin and there is one bath. There is a large front porch …perfect for coffee and biscuits in the morning and bird watching.
I do teach biscuit baking to visitors to Nashville and if you want me to come out to the cabin and teach you or your family to bake a Southern Biscuit that can be arranged for an additional fee.
About the area. There is paddle boats, canoeing, hiking at the neighboring state park. There is also a paved running/hiking trail around the lake
